The Sr. People Business Partner is an essential part of the People Strategies team providing strategic HR partnership in all things people & culture to their assigned business areas, partnering throughout the function from executive to front line team members. This role is essential in working across the business to set people strategies and work with leaders and team members to ensure a Great Place to Work culture. This position takes ownership of and drives forward-looking growth and development strategies, champions D&I, acts as a trusted advisor, and generates data insights that directly impact the business. This position collaborates and works across functions with their peers to enhance our strategic People Business partner model. A successful individual in this role drives high-impact results, motivates others, creates followership, and maintains a high bar for talent while fostering an environment of trust, collaboration, and belonging.

Outcomes and Activities:

Organization Development (OD)

  • This position will work from home; occasional planned travel to an office location may be required. However, this position is permitted to work at an office location if requested by the team member
  • Act as a trusted advisor and consultant in all things people for key functional stakeholders providing a people strategy that is aligned with business strategy.
  • Actively partner with business area leadership/management team(s) to establish strategic direction for a business function. Support, participate and contribute toward achieving defined business results.
  • Work with business area leadership to develop workforce strategies/plans that ensure the right people are in the right place at the right time. Optimize organizational structure and support work to align resources to the vision and strategies of the division.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of OD and HR strategies that support business area goals and objectives.
  • Provide OD support to change initiatives and other business area needs.
  • Identify key people trends and insights using HR analytics and external best practices to measure and report findings and recommendations to the business area to drive overall culture, performance, and effectiveness.

Culture, Team Member Engagement, and Experience

  • Monitor the work environment, identifying team member engagement trends, issues, and areas for improvement to promote a high trust, high-performance workplace experience.
  • Consult executive leadership around culture and engagement strategies and effective team performance. Provide solutions and strategies to improve outcomes.
  • Act as an executive coach to top leadership.
  • Serve as a champion for Diversity and Inclusion, partnering with business leaders to implement and monitor the success of key D&I initiatives.
  • Counsel and coach People Advisors on complex employee relations issues and serve as a resource to prevent and/or facilitate conflict resolution.

Business Area Performance & Development

  • Monitor organizational and business area performance and suggest and deliver initiatives to maximize performance.
  • Coach and train leadership in maximizing the performance of their teams in a way that aligns with Credit Acceptance culture and values.
  • Assist leaders and their teams in developing a strategic approach to the utilization of individual development plans.
  • Identify and coach high-potential individuals and lead the business area succession planning process. Develop career pathing strategies to enhance team member retention and engagement, as well as proactively prepare the organization for future resource needs.
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate governmental laws and regulations as they relate to Human Resources (i.e., EEOC/AA, ADA, Wage and Hour, FLMA, WC, etc.). Work with assigned areas to ensure they are informed, updated as applicable, and operating in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

HR Collaboration and Project Management

  • Lead and participate in HR and business area projects that advance our HR strategic plan and business objectives.
  • Takes ownership for engaging with and collaborating with other HR areas through influence without direct authority leveraging the expertise and experiences of Talent Acquisition, Training and Development, Compensation, Benefits, and other areas of HR.
  • Develop solutions that help the business realize its strategic priorities and align with Credit Acceptance’s culture and values.
  • Participate as an active member of the HR community, building relationships across the HR team and supporting other HR initiatives and projects. Identify and share strategies and solutions that may be implemented in other business units to improve organizational effectiveness.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal; must be an articulate and persuasive communicator.

  • Ability to diagnose and successfully develop and implement organizational development strategies at the business area/functional level.
  • Deep experience in talent planning, leadership development, and being a trusted advisor to the senior leader level.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, statutes, etc. which govern employment policies and practices.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Strategic problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand, interpret and act on information promptly and effectively.
  • Open and receptive to ongoing feedback aimed at improving performance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, HR, related field, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience in human resources, including a minimum of 7+ years of experience in a business partner capacity supporting a diversity of functional groups .
  • Demonstrable experience working in a strategic HR Business Partner model.
  • Broad understanding of all HR disciplines including organizational development, talent planning, employee relations, talent acquisition, learning & development, and compensation.
  • 5+ years of experience working with senior levels of management in the development of strategic initiatives, business plans, and resource planning strategies.
  • Experience in building, aligning, and implementing programs and processes to business strategy.
  • Proficient user of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and HRIS systems

Targeted Compensation: $135,000.00 - $165,000.00 + an annual bonus plan
