Litigation Attorney

Impact:

The Senior Litigation Attorneys works with complex cases in a high volume and fast-paced environment in a trial driven firm. Senior Litigation Attorneys perform a variety of duties including overseeing associate attorneys and paralegals.

Duties:

· Continual review and management of case files from inception through mediation and trial.

· Identification of critical legal issues to move case to a conclusion.

· Attend and conduct fact and expert witness depositions.

· Draft petitions, motions, and other pleadings.

· Draft discovery: interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admissions.

· Draft responses to discovery: interrogatories, productions, and requests for admissions.

· Monitor deadlines for responses and timeliness.

· Review and analysis of pleadings.

· Review depositions and medical records.

· Developing and implementing an appropriate discovery plan, including oversight and preparation of discovery responses for review by partner and then client.· Calendar and manage legal and court deadlines.

· Working knowledge and experience of e-Filing in both State and Federal Court systems.

· Prepare legal documents such as briefs, factual chronologies, and medical chronologies,

· Investigate facts as requested by attorney.

· Ensure proper indexing and filing of original legal document.

· Manage and oversee trial and mediation preparation: trial subpoenas, trial notebooks, exhibit lists and

witness lists, witness management; trial testimony; witness materials, physical and electronic exhibits, trial exhibit presentations, and other trial and mediation related tasks.

· Maintain consistent communication with clients.

· Ability to effectively communicate with clients and prepare comprehensive initial and continual updatedclient reports.

· Oversee and draft correspondence and regularly communicate with clients, experts, third-party providers, and defense counsel.

· Legal research and preparation of legal memoranda.

· Data and medical manager of assigned files.

· Review and understand litigation documents including claim files, medical records and other documents typically gathered in litigated matters.

· Prepare Settlement Statements.

· Recommendations for and drafting of motions and handling argument of same.

· Assist with the training and development of associate attorneys within the firm.

  • Lead a team of Associates, Paralegals, and Legal Assistants

Prioritize and complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner

Skills:

· Licensed in the State of Tennessee and in Good Standing.

· At least 10 years of experience as a Litigation Attorney.

· Must have extensive trial experience.

· Must have a superior track record of obtaining verdicts that are verifiable.

· Extensive litigation experience with an ability to individually manage caseload with minimal supervision.

· Experience managing a case from start to finish.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

· Superior time management and multi-tasking skills.

· Teamwork: Balances team and individual responsibilities, contributes to building a positive team.

· Initiative: Takes independent actions and calculated risks; asks for and offers help when needed.

· Written Communication: Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; varies writing style to meet needs; able to read and interpret written information.

· Oral Communication: Listens and gets clarification when necessary; responds well to questions.

· Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully.

· Interpersonal Skills: Focusing on solving conflict and maintains confidentiality.

· Analytical: Synthesizes complex or diverse information; collects and researches data.

· Strong interpersonal and communications skills; a solid work ethic; and demonstrated success in prior employment.

· The ability to interpret, analyze, organize, and understand complex legal material quickly and accurately is required.

· Must have the ability to work independently, consistently meet deadlines, and achieve individual objectives within larger team projects.

· The ability to effectively handle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a quickly changing environment is needed.

·Ability to prioritize and meet multiple and competing deadlines.

· Desire to learn and grow as an attorney is required
