We are extremely excited to announce an open position for the opportunity as a Senior Compliance Auditor, Management Analyst 5 (MA5), Full Time, Permanent, here at the beautiful Washington Veterans Home in scenic Port Orchard, Washington. Please note, this position also has the flexibility to work at our historic Washington Soldiers Home facility in Orting, Washington!

  • This position has been posted within the assigned pay range through Step L. Step M has not been published as this is considered the longevity step, in alignment with state HR compensation rules.

In addition, we provide critical community services through a variety of programs, and at our four State Veterans Homes located in Orting, Port Orchard, Spokane, and Walla Walla. These Medicare, Medicaid, and Federal VA certified State Veterans Homes provide skilled and long-term nursing home care to honorably discharged veterans, including, in some instances, their spouses, widows, or Gold Star Families.

As a key member of the WDVA Compliance/Audit team, reports directly to the WDVA Compliance Officer, and assists in setting out the general mandate and commitment, overview and guiding principles, roles and accountabilities, for managing, monitoring and improving compliance within WDVA.

You will also assist the WDVA Compliance Officer in setting out the general mandate and commitment, overview and guiding principles, roles and accountabilities for managing, monitoring, and improving compliance culture within WDVA.

In this position you will lead projects and provide guidance to three Compliance Auditors. You will also have expertise over WDVA programs' operations/governance and be able to audit against standards and regulations. This position will lead and manage projects and, at the direction of the WDVA Compliance Officer, assign tasks to team members, provide guidance, establish deadlines, and coordinate work with others.

Duties

Some of what you'll be doing includes:


  • Lead and manage audit projects to ensure timeliness of completion and reporting.
  • Research applicable regulations, contract terms & conditions, performance standards, policies and procedures to develop appropriate audit tools.
  • Conduct risk-based audits.
  • Report audit findings and recommend corrective action plans. Communicate findings to program managers and Compliance Officer.
  • Coordinate and implement solutions and plans of corrections to support operational short and long term strategic goals (safeguarding agency resources, achieve regulatory compliance).
  • Lead and supervise the work of others. Provide guidance to ensure that standards are followed.
  • Review documentation of work to ensure quality delivery to executive management, with clear and concise written reports summarizing procedures, findings, recommendations and results.
  • Monitor, research and interpret laws, rules, and standards imposed by regulatory entities.
  • Provide expert advice and consultation to program directors/managers, internal departments regarding complex, multi-dimensional issues and/or unprecedented issues having a broad scope and significant impact.
  • Serve as agency representative and resource to senior leaders on long-term care laws, analyze proposed and approved legislation for impact, interprets statutes and rules.
  • Reviews and monitors Statements of Deficiencies (CMS/DSHS 2567 Survey Report and the Fed VA Survey Reports, etc.) and research governing regulations, interpretive guidance, and other related material.

Qualifications

Required:


  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, healthcare administration, public administration, law, public health, or related field.
And

  • 5+ years of experience in Compliance or Auditing:
    • Familiarity with federal and state regulations (CFR, RCW, WAC).
    • Familiarity with privacy-related regulations, such as HIPAA.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Power BI).
    • Strong organizational skills and a discretionary approach when handling sensitive financial data.
Preferred:
  • HCCA, CIA certification (or in-progress).
  • Experience auditing in healthcare settings (e.g. long term care nursing facilities).
  • Familiarity with Medicaid / Medicare regulations.
