Security Officer - Full Time Job at Concordia University Nebraska
Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Security, the Security Officer patrols assigned territory to protect persons and property. Position is generally 8pm - 4am, Monday thru Friday hours may vary, compensation is $15/hr.
General Duties:
- Tours buildings and property of the university, examining doors, windows, and gates to assure they are secure.
- Inspects premises for such irregularities as signs of intrusion, interruption of utility services, suspicious acts or persons, and fire or safety hazards.
- Inspects fire alarms, fire extinguishers, closed circuit television and access control systems for signs of tampering.
- Answers alarms, investigates disturbances, and calls appropriate authorities as required by situation.
- Locks and unlocks doors according to schedule.
- Assists visitors or the general public in problems that may arise on the university campus.
- Writes reports of irregularities and keeps a daily log.
- Maintains confidentiality of security information.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Previous experience as a security officer preferred.
- Certified in First Aid and CPR.
- Ability to walk for 30-40 minutes per hour during an eight-hour shift.
- Ability to climb up to three flights of stairs at a time.
- Ability to withstand outdoor weather conditions throughout the year.
- Vision correctable to 20/20 required.
- Hearing correctable within normal range required.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Must possess a good moral character.
- Familiarity with The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) helpful.
