Seasonal Manger Position Job at BSA Summit Group
The Summit is the Boy Scouts of America's newest outdoor adventure center, situated on 10,600 acres in the heart of West Virginia's New River Gorge Region. Focused on developing youth physically, mentally, and morally, our Managers will ensure operations and programming support The Summit's Core Values: Sustainability, Leadership, Service, and Adventure.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Provide cheerful, helpful, and efficient service to all guests in their area. Maintain a friendly, cheerful and helpful attitude to ensure that participants have an enjoyable experience. Where possible, address their needs and concerns, where not possible, steer them to someone who can.
- Clearly communicate to staff under their supervision and carry out the prescribed policies and procedures of the Summit as outlined in the Staff Guidebook and during staff training.
- Presents oneself to every participant as clean, sharp appearing, and correctly uniformed as described in the staff guidebook.
- Operate the venues under their management to meet all BSA National Camp Standards, National Industry Standards, and Summit specific standards.
- Train (Local Operation Procedures) and manage staff so that they have the knowledge to carry out a safe, impactful, and fun program.
- Is responsible for all paperwork, logs, and inventory control for the program operations, equipment, and facilities under their responsibility.
- Ensure that all program supplies are ordered in a timely manner so that materials needed are on hand to provide program to the guests.
- Monitor equipment conditions and remove any unsafe equipment from use and proactively arrange for equipment to be fixed or permanently taken out of use.
- Monitor conditions of facilities, report any deficiencies to the Director, and modify programming to ensure participant safety.
- Ensures that staff are fully trained in all emergency procedures.
- Write an end-of-season report with accurate inventories and recommendations for improving the operation of their venues.
- Serve as a coach and counselor to each member of their staff so that they can effectively serve as a member of a successful team.
- Schedule twice a month in-service training and review days.
- Provide periodic performance evaluations of staff including a written mid-season review and a final staff evaluation.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Director.
Qualifications & Training:
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a Summit Driving permit. This requires submitting a driving record.
- Documented general management experience.
- Documented Training Assistant experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment.
- Must be able to lift and handle materials up to 50 pounds.
- Must meet the Summit Bechtel Reserve's high adventure height/weight requirements as laid out in the Summit BSA Health & Medical Record.
BMI under 32 is approved. BMI between 32 and 39.9 is acceptable provided there are no underlying medical concerns. BMI of 40 and above does not meet the requirement.
Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform
- SBR blue polo or BSA Field Uniform (Scouts BSA, Venturing, or Sea Scout)
- Shorts/Pants should be of the appropriate length/size/appropriateness for a Scouting setting.

- 10x12' Platform Tent; Foxtrot Base Camp Staff Area
