Description: Scheduler will be responsible for providing a world class patient and family centered experience across the continuum that contributes to the customer satisfaction/retention, exceptional quality/value, and financial health in a high performance contact center environment. This position requires high quality customer service assistance when responding to inquiries pertaining to a variety of clinics under the SEMG umbrella. Schedulers will be responsible for scheduling and registering appointments for SEMG utilizing all available informational tools. Calls may consist of requests for appointment scheduling and/or registration of SEMG.
Requirements:
- Maintains positive patient relations and represents the practice in a professional, friendly and patient-focused manner
- Schedules new and return patients not recently sent into the office for appointments.
- Coordinates with referring physician office to obtain all necessary billing and patient demographic information as well as pertinent medical records.
- Contacts patients to confirm demographic and insurance benefit information.
- Schedules patient appointments in accordance with scheduling guidelines and policies to ensure an equitable and effective patient distribution.
- Obtains insurance authorizations as required.
- Provides necessary documentation to patients for upcoming appointment.
- Mails No-Contact letters when patient does not reply.
- Maintains medical records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Monitors and addresses voicemail in a timely manner.
- Accepts incoming telephone calls in a professional, friendly and patient-focused manner by assessing the needs of the caller and directs the call based on those needs.
- Treats patients with respect and responds to their needs in a prompt, friendly and courteous manner.
- Follows all HIPAA standards and procedures as set forth in the HIPAA Compliance Manual.
- Follows all standards and procedures set forth in the Safety Handbook.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Education, Experience & Skills
- Experience working in healthcare setting.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance plans.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- The ability to type accurately.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Good telephone etiquette and a pleasant attitude when faced with difficult patient encounters.
Preferred Education, Experience & Skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency preferred
Physical & Mental Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to use fine motor skills to operate office equipment and/or machinery
- Ability to receive and comprehend instructions verbally and/or in writing
- Ability to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solving
- Ability to travel to multiple locations to support business needs as required
