The Sales Manager will be a hands-on leader with the ability to support efforts in leading, managing, and holding accountable a team to exceed annual sales goals. This person will drive urgency for the department by developing team members to achieve priority scorecard metrics, coordinating with other departments to assure a positive customer experience that results in sales, supporting sales efforts of the team to increase conversion rates, and leading ongoing training, roleplaying, coaching, and development to elevate individual skill sets of the sales team.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions:

  • Hands-on sales leadership
  • With a well-established process, the manager holds accountability to Process which encompasses all activities of sales associates such as lead taking, lead follow up, sales script, overcoming objections, lot interactions, etc.
  • Impactful communication skills to create buy-in for training activities that include elevating truck knowledge, coaching team members on sales scripts, objection handling, and best practices to achieve individual and company goals
  • Lead customer re-engagement activities to ensure priority sales opportunities are sustained
  • Develop, lead, and coach a team capable of prioritizing truck profitability, inventory turns
  • Support utilization efforts of the CRM to capture all customer information and accurate data
  • Identify team member areas of improvement and create actionable plans to elevate performance thru effective coaching
  • Support activities on the sales lot to ensure a great customer experience.
  • Follow and enforce all company policies and procedures
  • Advocate for organizational priorities and maintaining positivity and support of changes needed
  • Elevate issues within and to other departments as needed
  • Daily use of advanced PC and business computer applications, telephone conferencing and e-mail
  • Performs other job-related duties assigned.

Required Education, Skills & Abilities:

  • High School degree with related sales leadership experience required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance or related field preferred
  • 3+ years previous experience in a sales leadership role, consistently meeting or exceeding targets
  • Demonstrated success with sales training, role playing, and coaching
  • Proven ability to lead a team to drive the sales process from lead to close
  • Strong business sense and industry expertise (profitability, diesel engines, used heavy trucks/equipment, etc.)
  • Ability to think strategically, with a strong sense of urgency
  • Previous CRM systems experience, preferably in a leadership capacity; ability to analyze and report on key metrics
  • Keen attention to detail with a commitment to solving complex problems
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization and with customers
  • Goal-oriented self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure work environment
  • Physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential function of the job

Physical demands include:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Ability to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
