Overview:
Brooks Construction is looking to add an additional Sales Estimator to our team. We seek innovate, creative, and a passionate professional who seeks excellence in all they do to serve their clients. To estimate projects, you may be asked to do: surveying, design, take offs, and field measurements to list a few. This position provides a different challenge every day, pushing a person to think outside the box to deliver a product or service for the customer, all the while ensuring they are satisfied. In this position, the Sales Estimator will have the satisfaction of seeing the project from initial interaction to final billing, getting to be a part of the entire construction process.
Job Summary:
The Sales Estimator is responsible for estimating and securing projects through a variety of sources. The Sales Estimator will be tasked to estimate work in the private & public markets, requiring personal interaction with owners/owners representatives to deliver the answer to their needs. Often this requires problem solving, putting to paper customers' requests, and back and forth interaction to provide a solution. The Sales Estimator will communicate and assist the Production staff with issues during the construction process. This person will perform the above all while maintaining and continuously growing a customer base.
Essential Job Functions (*=Non-essential tasks):
- Project estimating, including thorough knowledge of all bidding documents, plans and specifications.
- Manage the financial side of projects through all phases; bidding, securing materials with vendors, subcontract management, field change orders, and invoicing.
- Ability to change direction and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis.
- Building a strong client relationship as well as maintaining a positive relationship with subcontractors, suppliers, employees and co-workers.
- Team attitude; cooperate with others with exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
- Attend after hours work related functions on a regular basis.
- Represent the Company with a positive, pro-active, and customer-service oriented attitude
- Analyze project performance during and after construction
- Ability to assess site exposures/construction risks and be able to appropriately analyze cost and reflect these in an estimate.
- Ability to identify constructability issues through the estimating process.
- Ability to identify value-engineering alternatives
- Attend pre-bid and job site meetings.
- Ability to understand basics of surveying and topographic maps
- Create basic designs to present a customer with a visual aid.
- Understand and acquire proper permitting prior to job kickoff.
- Assist others as needed

Requirements:
Experience:
- Minimum of 2+ years' experience sales, estimating, and/or project management , or equivalent experience in other areas of the construction industry
- Previous heavy highway/civil/horizontal construction experience is preferred.
Education:
- Associate's Degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related degree; or four (4) years equivalent experience in heavy highway/civil/horizontal construction.

- Must have the ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites

Working Environment:
- Individual will be working in an office and field environment
- Individual will be working with internal customers (other Sales/Estimators, Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, Support Departments [Safety, HR, Accounting, etc.])
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to travel to various project sites.
- Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
