Job Summary

Responsible for delivering exceptional dining experiences. Takes orders, serves food and drinks, and answers questions about the menu as well as makes food suggestions. Collaborates with other restaurant staff to foster efficient service.


Salary: $8.85-$12.38 hourly + tips

Essential Functions

1. Takes guest beverage and/or food orders and inputs orders accurately in the point-of-sale (POS) system.

2. Retrieves and delivers food and beverage orders in a timely manner.

3. Replenishes beverages and ensures guest satisfaction throughout the meal service.

4. Serves alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with federal, state and local regulations.

5. Clears plates at the appropriate time.

6. Makes certain the serving station is well-stocked at all times.

7. Presents the check and responsible for all transactions including receiving payment and accurately counting back change.

8. Responds graciously to guest service issues and reports the situation to restaurant management.

9. Conducts oneself in a professional manner with the awareness that all actions and communications are within guests’ view.

10. Maintains a clean and organized section, service station and dining room.

11. Perform secondary responsibilities, such as clearing/cleaning tables, to aid other restaurant staff.

12. Complete opening, ongoing, and closing duties as assigned.

13. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.

14. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.

15. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.

Required Skills

  • Ability to think and communicate clearly in high pressure situations.
  • Ability to move quickly and gracefully throughout the dining room.
  • Demonstrate basic math skills with excellent reading, writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable of the menu, ingredients and cooking techniques.
  • Knowledgeable of drink recipes and pricing.
  • Ability to confidently make food and beverage pairing recommendations.
  • Knowledgeable of pre-check register operation.
  • Knowledgeable of computer operations and ordering procedures.
  • Knowledgeable of basic sanitation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Ability to maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Must be at least 18 years old.


Previous serving and/or customer service experience preferred.

Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check and credit check. Must have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.

Must pass a pre-employment basic physical, drug screen, and functional assessment screening (Level 2).

This position requires occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 42 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. This job requires the ability to work in an office environment where the noise level is usually moderate.

Regular Full-Time employees are scheduled to work at least 40 hours per week and are eligible for the City's benefit package, subject to the conditions and limitations of each program.
Regular Part-Time employees are scheduled to work at least 30-36 hours per week and are eligible for some City sponsored benefits subject to conditions and limitations of each program.
