Resident Assistant Job at Cedar Oaks Wellness Center
Provides direct and indirect client care under the direction of the Director of Operations. Provides for the personal care and comfort of residential clients. Provides a safe, clean environment. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Clinical / Technical Skills
- Performs and records client vital signs, intake and output; notifies RN of any changes.
- Continuously observes clients’ behavior, mental status and notifies any changes or unusual occurrences.
- Demonstrates the ability to identify behaviors that require intervention.
- Able to perform client safety checks at scheduled times, documents appropriately.
- Demonstrates the ability to set limits for clients and other de-escalation techniques.
- Documentation meets current standards and policies.
- Answers the telephone in a professional manner, directs calls appropriately, takes messages.
- Orients clients to the unit, takes vital signs and records on the EHR.
- Participates in treatment meetings. Communicates appropriately and clearly to the Treatment Team
- Assists with therapeutic educational groups under the direction of the Clinical Director.
- Responsible for assisting clients needing additional care related to medical needs.
- Provides general nursing care, i.e., transferring clients, assisting with ADLs, meals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting. One (1) year of experience as a behavioral health technician or related position preferred.
- CPR and CPI certifications (these may be obtained through Cedar Oaks new employee orientation).
