Job Summary


The Residence Life Coordinator is a professional, full time, live-in position in the Office of Housing and Residence Life. The primary responsibility is to uphold the mission statement of OHRL, a commitment to providing a safe, healthy, and comfortable living-learning environment, conducive to academic and personal success while fostering a sense of community, civic engagement, and an appreciation for diversity. This position is responsible for coordinating residence life operations for an assigned residence hall and for enforcing residence life policies and procedures.

Responsibilities


Responds to emergency or problem situations in an efficient and effective manner (60%)

  • Develops an on-call schedule for each staff member to ensure continuous supervision of residence life activities.
  • Responds to situations outside of institutional business hours, cooperating with Campus Police and other first responders as needed.
  • Maintains accurate key records and performs routine key audits.
  • Conducts student check-ins and check-outs at the beginning and end of each semester.
  • Inspects all student rooms for damages at check-out and assess appropriate fines
  • Maintains residence hall and student records.
  • Resolves minor discipline issues and completes related documentation. Monitors camera and ID card activity when needed for conduct cases.
  • Follows up with maintenance concerning ongoing issues and student concerns.
  • Processes and manages residence life applications and waitlists
  • Assists students in the room selection process.
  • Mediates roommate conflicts, initiates room changes, maintains accurate occupancy via StarRez Housing Software, and reports changes to main office.
  • Inspects residence hall daily to identify and resolve maintenance and student conduct issues.


Advise and support (20%)

  • Supervises the work of CAs and RAs; conducts staff meetings; communicates with staff to exchange and discuss ideas, plan programs, and solve problems.
  • Assists main office operations during summer months in preparing room assignments. Participate in Orientation activities including tours and presentations. Prepare residence halls for Fall Move-in.
  • Promotes and supervises social and educational programs.
  • Establishes performance goals and measures to evaluate success of assigned staff.
  • Answers telephones and greets visitors, including students and parents; provides information and assistance via phone and email; refers to appropriate personnel.


Train Staff (10%)

  • Recruits, selects, and trains Resident Assistants (RAs).
  • Educates residents of college rules and regulations and the consequences of infractions.
  • Completes educational sessions during RA Training for Fall and Spring


Responds and maintains positive relationships with the community; collaborates with other departments in implementing a broad spectrum of initiatives (10%)

  • Welcomes and acclimates new students and their families to the campus during Orientation programs, which will include residential tours.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director or designee.
  • Identifies as a Campus Security Authority (CSA)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in course of study related to the occupational field.
  • Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to required one to three years of related experience.

Other Information

  • This an exempt (monthly paid) position and includes full benefits.
  • Minimium salary: $35,584
  • Total compensation package includes room and board & meal plan.
