Duke Clinical Research Institute has a fellowship opportunity as a Research Scholar in the cardiovascular research group under the direction of Drs. Christopher Granger and Sana Al-Khatib.

Expectations:

The primary duties for this position are related to research on testing interventions to improve community care of cardiac arrest at the Duke Clinical Research Institute. The main research project is the RACE CARS NIH funded randomized clinical trial.

Although the majority of the time will be reserved for research activities, the fellow will collaborate with the current team in day-to-day oversight activities and educational conferences and seminars. The candidate should have expertise in cardiac intensive care and cardiac arrest care. The candidate should have professional society leadership experience and clinical research experience and productivity.

The successful candidate will gain experience in design and conduct of clinical research. He or she should expect to collect and analyze data in a collaborative environment, to prepare manuscripts for publication, attend various seminars/lectures provided by the DCRI, and to present data at conferences. He or she will interface with communities across North Carolina to be a key member of the research team implementing interventions to improve cardiac arrest care.

  • Open and timely discussion with the mentor(s) regarding all facets of the research scholar’s research activities
  • Professional Conduct and other relevant conduct policies pertaining to schools at Duke University
  • Compliance with all applicable University and departmental policies and procedures

Min Degree Requirements:

The Research Scholar Appointee holds a PhD or equivalent doctorate (e.g. ScD, MD, DVM). Candidates with non-US degrees may be required to provide proof of degree equivalency.


Note for international candidates: Generally, immigration classifications (e.g., H-1B, J-1, etc.) require that the requisite degree be conferred before a petition can be filed or a visa document issued to sponsor the individual.

The term of the appointment is limited (1-2 year training fellowship).

The appointment is preparatory for a full time academic or research career.



The appointment is not part of a clinical training program, unless research training under the supervision
of a senior mentor is the primary purpose of the appointment.
