SCOPE OF ROLE:
In this role, you will serve as the primary contact with the field foresters in a region and work with them to conduct the applied research and technology transfer in silviculture, genetics, and biometrics needed to continually improve the management of our forests. This role requires a passion for forestry and a commitment to sustainable management of working forests that produce timber and non-timber products and ecosystem services such as carbon, water and biodiversity that are needed by society. You will work with your customers and other members of the Research, Productivity, Sustainability Team and the Biometrics Team to determine the research priorities and then design and install the needed field studies, collect, analyze and interpret the data, and communicate those results throughout the organization. The applied research you conduct and your ability to effectively communicate the results and its implications to our foresters is foundational to our business and has a significant impact on key forest management decisions we make every day that determine the success of our company. In our forests, you will make decisions not just for today, but decisions that have an impact on future generations. Your analysis of research results to quantify the growth response and financial returns from treatments to determine the optimal management regimes in each stand contributes to continued success of our land management.
Through this experience you will gain exposure to many different aspects of forestry and have access to the tools, support and development you desire to continue to build upon your knowledge and expertise and advance your career, including mentoring, rotational roles, training opportunities, development exposures and more.
HOW YOU WILL SUCCEED:

- Take ownership of the R&D program in your region and demonstrate a commitment to customer service to address the needs of the foresters you work with throughout the organization.
- Work with University/Industry research cooperatives and help coordinate their activities and field trials so that Rayonier can benefit more from this collaborative research.
- Effectively communicate both in writing and verbally in formal and informal settings to convey the knowledge and technology needed to continuously improve our forest management.
- Work collaboratively as a member of the RPS team with multiple business units and share your viewpoints, ideas, and findings to create better outcomes for Rayonier.
- Efficiently multi-task and meet deadlines that are assigned.
- Commit to continuous learning, finding new and more innovative ways of doing things and staying current on forest research, technology, operational forest management, and sustainability.
