Job Duties
- Receive referrals from Protective Investigators and others and evaluate the risk, need for services and immediacy of needs; prepare appropriate paperwork and facilitate the process of the teams involvement.
- Evaluate, analyze and synthesis information gleaned from referral source, previous reports, and child/family history to develop a cohesive intake document for the team
- Work closely and in tandem with medical director to ensure referrals for children at All Childrens Hospital receive appropriate response
- Coordinate and share documentation pertaining to children seen by medical provider at All Childrens Hospital within mandated timeline
- Make service recommendations to the referral source, based on the individual case and risk, even when the family is not going to be served by CPT.
- Participate in 24 hour on-call rotation, including weekends, to take referrals, assess for immediate service needs, provide coordination of services, crisis intervention and assistance with medical examinations of children.
- Review Child Abuse Reports for criteria for mandatory referral and facilitate review by medical staff.
- Collect data and maintain records and statistics regarding abuse reports reviewed, referrals taken by the team, consults and cases received by the team.
- Coordinate communication between CPT and those agencies involved in the child protection or criminal justice systems as allowed by statutes and in compliance with confidentiality limitations.
- Complete documentation that meets professional standards, is of high quality, and is in compliance with DOH contract and program standards.
- Complete a minimum of eight hours of training per year in child abuse, abandonment, and neglect.
- Maintain good working relationships with professionals in related fields, area agencies and local, state and national organizations related to the agencys and programs scope of work and vision.
- Assist with the training and orientation of new staff as requested and as part of the "team" concept in educating of new staff.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelors degree in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, or another behavioral science.
Licensure: None required
Experience: At least two years of post-bachelor experience working with children and their families, with one year of that experience involving work with abused and neglected children.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must demonstrate an appreciation of and the ability to work with diverse populations.
Commitment to ethical standards and excellence.
Additional Requirements: Must be able to complete a level II background screening and pre-employment drug test in compliance with Florida Law. Must be at least 21 year of age. Must be able to provide official transcripts.
Working Conditions: Primarily in the office. Must be able to efficiently and effectively handle telephone calls and computer documentation. Schedule may be irregular if emergencies arise. Participates in Child Protection Team On-Call Rotation. Limited travel for training.
