Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia – principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. Our scenic campus is located in Albemarle County, Virginia. We are one of 23 community colleges in Virginia that comprise the Virginia Community College System (VCCS).

Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Recruiter will be a key part of the HR Department. The Recruiter will perform full life-cycle recruitment for full-time classified and part-time/wage positions; Support the academic recruitment process by posting positions and advising hiring managers and search committees on recruitment policies and best practices; Act as the primary contact for the college-wide on-boarding process, ensuring new hires receive and complete required pre-boarding documents; Cross train with the other HR analysts in Benefits and Payroll; Perform special projects like monitoring the education assistance program, maintaining organization charts, and coordinating service awards, etc.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Design and implement overall recruiting strategy to generate high quality, talented, and diverse applicants for full-time classified and part-time wage positions
- Develop and update job descriptions and job specifications
- Prepare recruitment materials and post jobs to appropriate job boards, colleges, etc
- Source and recruit candidates by using databases, social media, etc
- Build relationships with local and regional recruitment sources including schools, colleges, and community organizations.
- Screen candidates resumes and job applications
- Conduct interviews using contemporary recruiting and selection methods to assess applicants’ relevant knowledge, skills, and experience
- Extend job offers
- Onboard new employees
- Monitor and apply HR recruiting best practices
- Provide analytical and well documented recruiting reports to the rest of the team
- Act as a point of contact and build influential candidate relationships during the selection process
- Act as a search advocate and resource for other search advocates.
- Master the use of all applicable HR, recruitment and onboarding platforms and participate in system upgrades and the implementation of new HCM systems.
- Act as an ambassador of the PVCC values when interacting with the public.
- Develop strategic relationships with hiring managers and PVCC leadership.
- Ensure PVCC provides a high-quality candidate experience.
- Participate in departmental process improvement initiatives.
- Participate in a team environment where collaboration and support for colleagues are seen as critical success factors.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education, training, and/or work experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
- Two years of experience in human resources or in an supervisory capacity in retail, food service or similar environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least one year as a talent acquisition recruiter.
- Human Resources experience in a post-secondary educational environment.
- Experience with the Commonwealth of Virginia Human Resources policies and procedures.
- Professional certification in Human Resources.
