CASUAL PROJECT/GRANT ASSISTANT 1
PAY RANGE: $17.10 - $28.00 PER HOUR
20 – 25 HOURS/WEEK

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking self-motivated, energetic, responsible individuals interested in assisting with the planning, administration, and implementation of programs hosted through the Recreation Services Division. This position will be based at the Sunnyvale Community Center in the Recreation Services Division of the Dept. of Library and Recreation Services.

Essential Job Functions

May include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Responsible for day-to-day administrative tasks for grant-funded projects (i.e., register participants, set up virtual programs, communicate with partners and instructors, etc.)
  • Develop a marketing plan with specific strategies and timeline to reach the partners and participants each project is focused on serving and assist with implementation of marketing and outreach strategies
  • Monitor program quality and evaluate program effectiveness through participant surveys
  • Responsible for completing grant reports, invoices, and billing/reimbursement in a timely manner to meet deadlines
  • Provide staff support to staff, partners, and participants as needed to ensure positive outcomes for registered participants in Evidenced-Based fitness programs for older adults
  • Become familiar with grant contract, grantee handbook and report templates
  • Become familiar with Evidenced-Based fitness programs for older adults
  • Familiarity with website development and coordination
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS
Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading reports and work related documents and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal customer service. The need to lift, drag, and push files, paper, and documents weighing up to 10 pounds is also required. Some of these requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring and requesting such accommodation.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:
The minimum qualifications for education and experience can be met in the following way:

  • Graduation from high school or tested equivalent
  • 1 year of clerical or administrative experience
  • 1 year experience working with the general public
  • Experienced working in subsidized or grant-funded programs
  • Experienced working in collaboration with other organizations or schools to deliver a program
  • Experienced in working with older adults and/or volunteers
  • Experienced working with diverse individuals
Licenses/Certificates:
Possession and continued maintenance of a valid class C California driver's license or the ability to provide alternate transportation as approved by the appointing authority and a safe driving record.

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Some college units in recreation, gerontology, education, social work, etc.
  • Experience with implementing grant-funded programs
  • Experienced with working with low-income older adults
