New Hope Support Services, LLC is a locally owned community support services organization that serves the Western, Central and Southwestern Virginia. New Hope Support Services seeks to provide training and support to enable individuals with significant functional limitations to achieve and maintain community stability and independence.

NHSS is currently hiring for a full time Mental Health Specialist position for our Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program in Roanoke, VA providing services to clients with mental or emotional disorders by teaching them to function in their own community.

The Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) Mental HealthSpecialist must be able to plan and provide rehabilitative services for individuals with mental illness.

Duties include developing treatment plans, providing individual and group instruction and completely documentation. PSR Mental Health Specialist will be responsible for supporting consumers with assessments to determine needed services. PSR Mental Health Specialists will be responsible for scheduling community and center base activities that are based on consumer’s needs. The PSR Mental Health Specialist is also responsible for maintaining the safety and well-being of all consumers while receiving services while on-site or in the community.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelors in Human Services or related field
• Three experience with mental health services in group setting programs
• QMHP-A Certification from Virginia Board of Counseling
• Must have current CPR and First Aid certification
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills
• Experience with writing accurate, informative, timely documentation that is applicable with Licensure and Medicaid guidelines
• Must have extremely strong documentation, writing and computer skills along with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with diverse population and to implement program requirements
• Must be able to work independently and as a cooperative team member
• Must be able pass background check
• A good driving record (no negative points) is essential for this position
