Purchasing Manager, Construction Job at Tunnel To Towers Foundation
The mission of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to honor the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. We also honor our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country.
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the coordinating of materials and services needed for each of the program’s homes builds.
Duties and responsibilities
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers.
- Build, maintain and manger relationships with vendors, including identifying potential suppliers and new products.
- Collaborate with team to identify needs for materials, products and services.
- Contact suppliers to obtain quotes.
- Order and track material for each home under construction and manage deliveries based on construction schedule.
- Monitor orders to ensure timely deliveries.
- Communicate with vendors regarding quality issues and cost concerns.
- Proactively identify and address challenges with suppliers and the flow of materials, keeping team informed of issues or concerns.
- Create and maintain records.
- Analyze costs and effectively negotiate prices, sourcing he best goods and materials.
- Inspect homes under construction to make sure estimates are accurate and, when unexpected complications or issues arise, makes quick and necessary adjustments.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of residential construction experience.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural plans.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Extremely organized with paperwork.
- Ability to work independently.
- Detail orientated.
- Ability to multitask multiple projects and supervise personnel.
Working conditions
Special working conditions may include: a change in days worked, shift hours, and/or working conditions (outdoors or other locations) when participating and assisting in special events such as:
NYC Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk, golf outings, and other fundraising events, as required.
