Job Summary:
The purchasing agent will review inventory records to make informed purchasing decisions for future manufacturing projects. Applicants must be able to compare quotes to select the most cost-efficient prices from reliable vendors.
Responsibilities:
- Request quotes for materials on new projects
- Submit purchase orders to suppliers via email for confirmation
- Frequently monitor email for updates on orders
- Communicate updates on backordered parts
- Ensure orders are expedited as needed
- Resolve any errors in a purchasing order, such as pricing, quantity, etc.
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Sustain relationships with suppliers, focusing on improving quality, cost, and lead times
- Maintain product and supplier information in our systems
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Associates degree or 1-2 years of experience in a purchasing, buyer, or material planner role is a plus
- Knowledge or interest in electronics is a plus
- Ability to learn the purchasing software system
- Microsoft Word and Excel experience
- Willingness to learn about the manufacturing products to better understand purchasing decisions
- Professional oral and written communication ability
