The Promotion of Underrepresented Minorities in Academic STEM (PUMA-STEM) Alliance is an NSF-funded program focused on strengthening underrepresented minority student success in STEM at primarily undergraduate and regional institutions. Elmhurst University is the lead institution in the alliance of eight colleges and universities in the Chicago area. The PUMA-STEM director is responsible for the operation and promotion of all aspects of the alliance.
Salary Grade A10 Essential Functions1. The project director will directly report to the Elmhurst University Dean of the School of Science, Technology and Mathematics and coordinate the grant activities, planning, and evaluation
2. Serve as the main point of contact for all institutions in the alliance and external collaborators
3. Coordinate alliance-wide events and events and programs for Elmhurst University, such as the STEM speaker series, peer mentoring program, and summer research experiences
4. Oversee collection of data and information for annual reporting requirements and evaluation of programs working with faculty site coordinators, institutional data specialists, and the external evaluator
5. Organize annual PUMA-STEM Symposium
6. Convene and manage the biannual Governing and Advisory Board meetings, and monthly Faculty Site Coordinator meetings
7. Create Smartsheet workspaces and worksheet templates for alliance institutions and maintain accurate documentation of project activities
8. Assist with payment and reconciliation of expenses and reports
9. Update and monitor the website working with Elmhurst University information technology
10. Attend PI, Co-PI and PD annual conference and other related conferences

Working Conditions/Physical RequirementsEmployee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
