MWH Constructors (MWHC), an industry leader in heavy civil construction of water and wastewater facilities, is currently seeking a Project Engineer to support a large wastewater infrastructure project in San Francisco, CA.

The Project Engineer will support, coordinate, and help implement quality standards to maintain excellence in MWH’s deliverables. This position will confirm that all project work is compliant with MWH and appropriate client standards and meets all specified requirements. This position is critical in implementing effective quality management so that the project work is delivered to a high standard of quality that meets the requirements and expectations of the client organizations.

The project is unique in that it involves new, cutting-edge technology in the US wastewater market called Thermal Hydrolysis. This highly sophisticated technology has many benefits, one being that it essentially converts the biosolids from the treatment process into renewable energy. When completed, this will be one of the largest Thermal Hydrolysis wastewater treatment plants in operation in the entire U.S.

Essential Functions

  • Plan, and supervise quality assurance functions as directed by Quality Manager and in the project Quality Assurance Manual.
  • Manage standards around quality throughout MWH.
  • Ensure company standards as outlined in the quality assurance manual are effectively implemented.
  • Perform activities such as audits, preparation of company standards, notification to management of quality problems, etc., as required by quality control program manual.
  • Provide support to administrative and technical personnel which includes personnel administration, resolution of technical problems, development/approval of in-house training, etc.
  • Ensure adequate corrective measures are implemented in cases of noncompliance.
  • Report to and work closely with the Project Quality Assurance Manager and other members of the Project Manager's office to confirm that all work is being delivered in conformance with MWH requirements and client’s specifications.
  • Interface with the Owner’s field representatives on quality issues and scheduling of 3rd party inspections.
  • Assist in managing and tracking receipt, custody, storage and maintenance of process equipment and process packages delivered to site.
  • Establish, track and report on trends for key quality metrics including customer satisfaction.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or other related field required; or an equivalent combination of experience, skills and training may be substituted.
  • Minimum of 3-7 years of experience working with engineering / infrastructure projects including construction.
  • Progressive responsibility and ability to demonstrate clear understanding of quality management principles.
  • Able to balance competing interests.
  • Excellent organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or other related fields preferred.
  • Industry recognized inspection certifications (CWI, NACE, ASQ etc).
  • Prior experience with construction and quality.
  • Certification by leading organizations within the quality management industry is desirable.
