Typical Working Schedule
This position is a full-time temporary appointment – 40hrs/week. The schedule is flexible with hours developed in consultation with the Dairy Plant Manager.

Position Summary
The Dairy Pilot Plant Project Coordinator is under direct supervision of the Dairy Plant Manager. The individual is responsible for assisting the Dairy Plant Manager in completing the dairy plant renovation project and work with equipment vendors on initial equipment commissioning. The Grassland Dairy – Wuethrich Family Dairy Center of Excellence has undergone an $8.5 million renovation project with new equipment, increased capacity and added automation.
The Dairy Pilot Plant Project Coordinator will participate in project meetings and distribute project notes. The coordinator will manage all project-related paperwork by ensuring all necessary materials are current, filed and properly stored and documented. The coordinator will work with the Dairy Plant Manager, faculty and student staff to maintain excellent standards, a clean, well- maintained and environmentally responsible facility.

Responsibilities
80% Project coordination
1. Develops, updates and maintains the hazard analysis for the food safety plan for regulatory compliance, tracking and documenting all necessary changes.
2. Serves as point of contact for the customer and other stakeholders; to coordinate, review, organize and communicate with. This includes written and verbal communication, meetings, submittals, training etc.
3. Performs plant trials with dairy plant manager, activities to include raw bulk milk pick up, pasteurization and separation of milk, cheese and ice cream production.
4. Coordinate sample collection and source lab for testing product. Send samples out for testing, collect, analyze and report data for production adjustments.
5. Primary point of contact for chemical company to organize and schedule the full plant sanitation prior post equipment commissioning, titrate chemicals and lead in program management.
6. Maintain vendor supplier management documentation to ensure compliance with FSMA regulation.
7. Lead equipment commissioning, responsible for documentation during sessions with vendors used for training.

20% Training
1. Review potential student employee applications, coordinate interviews, onboard new hires through orientation of GMPs.

2. Develops and maintains SOPs and training checklists for new student employees in accordance with FSMA regulations.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Dairy Science or closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading successful projects.
  • Knowledge of and experience in computer software.
  • Ability to accurately record information and develop reports.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to ensure compliance with food safety rules and regulations.
  • Effective problem solving, analytic and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate and interact constructively with supervisor, faculty, fellow staff members, students, and the public.
  • Knowledge of the proper and safe operation of processing equipment.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in work-related decision making.
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance of sanitation and food processing equipment, including the proper and safe use of tools used in equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions and ability to observe general workplace safety practices.
  • Valid Driver’s License.


Qualifications Preferred:
  • Master of Science in Dairy Science or closely related discipline
  • Experience in an academic setting
  • Ability to professionally assist faculty in research activities
  • Commercial Driver’s License
  • HACCP and WI Pasteurizer Certified
  • State of WI Cheesemaker License
