Programs Assistant: 40-80% time
This position will support most aspects of District communications and administration in collaboration with most other District staff. Duties include
· Maintaining digital and ‘snail’ mailing lists for general communications and outreach; updating and reproducing outreach materials
· Organizing and tracking District social media and e-blast posts
· Assembling and distributing quarterly and annual RCD digital newsletters
· Updating website content through the Joomla Content Management System
· Planning special events such as fundraisers and educational workshops (led by technical staff)
· Tabling community outreach events
· Preparation for and documentation of monthly Board meetings
· Maintaining document organization and inventory for field and/or office supplies and equipment; and
· Other miscellaneous administrative and office organizational duties, as directed.
· Depending on interest, relevant qualifications and the availability of funding, the Programs Assistant may have the opportunity to develop and manage youth ag conservation education programs.
Required Qualifications
· Two years or more experience working as an office assistant or related job
· Experience with assisting digital outreach communications and mailing lists
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
· Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher and PowerPoint
· Good oral and written communication skills
· Demonstrated professionalism
· Proof of a clean driving record and own means of transportation
Desired Qualifications
· Experience with developing and managing special events, outreach campaigns and youth education events
· Graphic design and photography/videography skills
· Website management skills
· Spanish language skills
· Knowledge, interest, and/or experience with agriculture and watershed resource conservation issues
Compensation
Hours and schedule can be flexible. Financial compensation will be based on experience and qualifications, starting at $21-$26/hr, with additional paid leave, health insurance and retirement savings benefits provided in accordance with District Policy. Work-related mileage is reimbursed.
District Overview
The RCD is a non-regulatory local agency governed by a publicly appointed Board of Directors and run by a staff of 10 permanent and 3 seasonal highly-skilled, professional employees. Our grant and contract-funded programs offer unique and dynamic opportunities to conserve our local ecology while maintaining the viability of productive agriculture and public safety.
