JCCA is seeking an Assistant Program Director to provide daily oversight to the operations of the Unaccompanied Children (UC) program. They will serve as a secondary liaison for Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), and other external parties in reference to the UAC Program. The Assistant Director will collaborate with the Program Director to coordinate daily program activities and ensure collaboration with the medical, education, vocational and skill building team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the Program Director in managing the day-to-day operations and carrying out programmatic goals and objectives in compliance with JCCA policy and ORR regulations
  • Serve as secondary liaison for programmatic communications to ORR and other stakeholders.
  • Support and Coordination of intake process which includes but not limited to reviewing cases for intake and providing reports
  • Actively work with multi-disciplinary team to ensure that clients are receiving adequate clinical, educational and recreational services
  • Responsible for the supervision, training and professional development of programmatic leads including but not limited to: Lead Clinician and Lead Case Manager
  • Ensures accurate and timely completion of documentation as required by JCCA policy, to include ensuring that all services provided to youth are documented in the client record and other required databases in accordance ORR regulations.
  • Ensure program compliance with quality assurance standards, training requirements, and all other contractual requirements
  • Responsible for interviewing and onboarding new employees for the department; integral in the orientation process for staff to teach clear expectations of the position and providing ongoing support
  • Maintain a presence to provide support and coaching for staff, as well as demonstrate and role model appropriate practices; manage and evaluate staff performance
  • Ensure implementation of policies, procedures and reports to assure effective department functioning and documentation of activity and performance outcomes.
  • Ensure staff reporting of critical incidents in compliance with JCCA and ORR policy and procedure
  • Identify supervision and/or professional training needs for staff; facilitate and coordinate mandated UAC trainings to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate and identify transportation resources for clients into and out of the program
  • Capable and ready to perform duties in the Program Director's absence; respond to client emergencies within or outside work hours
  • Other duties as assigned by Program Director

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, and requests simultaneously
  • Demonstrated strong writing skills without grammatical errors; must have Strong verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated therapeutic and crisis intervention skills; ability to de-escalate situations with calmness, professionalism, sensitivity, and within ethical boundaries
  • Ability to plan, assign, and direct subordinate personnel in a manner conducive to productive performance
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teams and clients that are culturally and professionally diverse
  • Proficient with MS Office with the ability to learn new technology platforms;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and interact effectively at all levels of the organization

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, sociology or other relevant behavioral science plus
  • Must have at least five (5) years of progressive employment experience with a social services or childcare agency or organization.
  • Must be bilingual, English/Spanish; other language skills may be acceptable depending on service population
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings per ORR contractual agreement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in social work or equivalent degree in education, psychology, sociology, or other relevant behavioral science degree is preferred
  • LCSW or LMSW
  • Knowledge or experience with Office of Refugee and Resettlement policies is highly preferred

Annual Salary: $75,000-$80,000
