Position Summary:
Professional Embedded Manufacturing Tutors are assigned to assist students in CNC, Certified Production Technician (CPT) and Metrology courses held on the SUNY Ulster main campus and at the Kingston Center of SUNY Ulster. On occasion, the tutor will be asked to assist CNC students at the Ulster BOCES location. The tutors will be prepared to assist students in class as well as via remote video conference. They are charged with assisting and providing guidance to a diverse student body. This position is a Grant funded term position expected to end December 31, 2024.
Major Responsibilities Include:

  • Attend Manufacturing classes to assist students in the classroom. These classes include CNC Fundamentals, Certified Production Technician and Fundamentals of Metrology. Build a peer relationship with the students in the classes.
  • Facilitate a group or one-on-one session with students who either seek help in class or are referred by their instructor.
  • Ability to balance the needs of several students at once.
  • Be familiar with the topics, teaching methods and requirements of faculty in the particular area of learning.
  • Knowledge of Zoom video conferencing.
  • Work directly with faculty and inform them of the progress of their students.
  • Attend professional development workshops. 8) Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Manufacturing or Engineering or related degree.
  • Students that have excelled in their studies are also encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to communicate on a one to-one basis.

Desirable Qualifications:
Experience with teaching and/or tutoring preferred.
Salary: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour; dependent upon knowledge and experience of the subject(s)
