Who are we?
The Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA) – established in 1916 – is a dairy farmer-owned and operated milk marketing cooperative and dairy processor. As the 10th largest dairy cooperative in the U.S., MMPA serves dairy farmers throughout Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio and Indiana, employing approximately 625 people in four states.
In addition to a cheese plant in Indiana called the Middlebury Cheese Company, and a dairy product plant in Ohio called Superior Dairy, MMPA operates two SQF Level 3 dairy ingredient plants in Michigan. Products made at MMPA’s plants include fluid milk, sour cream, cheese, ultra-filtered milk, cottage cheese, ice cream, butter, nonfat dry milk, cream and condensed skim milk. The Ovid Michigan facility is MMPA’s flagship operation, processing as much as 5 million pounds of milk into top quality powders, butter and fluid products per day.
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsibilities include:
- Work with the planning team (corporate office and plant personnel) to establish the daily plant production plan. Communicate any approved changes to the production plan and perform all data transactions effected by the change(s).
- All Ovid ERP transactions, including PBatch transactions, BOL, Inventory and other as required.
- Establishing and planning the plant labor schedule. This includes supporting labor needs for call offs, all overtime needs and vacation absences.
- Inputting all metric information.
- Data trending as required to support continuous improvement activities and new metric establishment.
- Data input for SOP’s, work instructions, training and continuous improvement documents.
- Communication liaison for Ovid facility, including in person and TEAMS meetings with factory personnel and/or corporate office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Learn our business and our operation – spend time as directed with people in all departments to gain and understanding of our facility and company.
- Work cooperatively with plant and corporate personnel to ensure effective plant communication and planning alignment.
- Keeps other departments within the organization informed as needed.
- Support management team as needed.
- Coordinate changes in production staffing and/or processes in order to ensure communication of proper manufacturing.
- Coordinate work efforts to ensure completion of work against expectations.
- Ensure consistency and compliance of policies, procedures, and standards to ensure consistent guidance and direction.
- Plan and organize data and documents as directed and needed.
- Acknowledge similarities and differences of others and use this knowledge to work effectively on a team or with individuals of varied backgrounds, cultures, styles, and views in an effort to improve performance and increase productivity.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or five plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of administrative experience.
- Professional experience with Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Must be able to perform data tracking and trending, understand operational metrics, how to produce graphs and charts as needed.
