Under supervision of the center's Research Director, the Post-Doctoral Research Associate will manage field and laboratory activities at the California Organic Center in Camarillo, PA. He/She will manage and coordinate field trials, collect data, process samples, analyze data, prepare research reports, peer-reviewed journal articles, educational materials, and grant proposals, and present research findings at regional and national scientific and grower conferences. The incumbent will directly report to the Research Director of California Organic Center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: *
Duties include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for plot establishment and maintenance, data collection from research plots, data management and record-keeping, sample processing, trial management, and data analysis.

• Must participate in all phases of field and lab research activities.
• Must be willing and able to work in all environmental conditions.
• Must be willing to work weekends and holidays when needed.
• Must be willing to get training for operation of agricultural equipment.

• Under supervision of the research director, produce grant proposals, research reports, peer-reviewed publications, and work with Research and Communications Departments to create outreach and education publications, including bulletins, fact sheets, and web articles.
• Present research findings in webinars and national conferences.
• This is an on-site position and incumbent must arrange his/her transportation to the research site at 1012 W Ventura Blvd, Camarillo CA.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: **

• Ph.D. in Crop Science, Agronomy, Soil science, Weed Science, or closely related fields.
• Strong background in conducting field research, statistical analysis, and data management
• Track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals (at least two peer-reviewed publications as first author)
• Excellent communication skills and ability to develop and articulate sound ideas and arguments to teams and internal and external scientific partners
• Interest and ability in working, collaborating, and communicating in a team environment with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent self-motivation requiring little supervision. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Must be able to obtain a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or more.
• Prior working experience with vegetables and horticultural crops.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Grant writing experience

• Evidence of attention to detail and ability to develop and maintain high quality records and other documentation is desirable.
• Self-starter and self-motivated with the ability to prioritize multiple activities.

TRAVEL:
Some regional and national travel is required.
COMPENSATION:
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is eligible for a comprehensive Rodale Institute benefits package.
This is a one-year position, with the possibility to be renewed contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding availability.
