Pharmacy Business Operations Director - Western Region
This position is based at our Aurora, Colorado Pharmacy location.
The total compensation range for this position is $135,000 - $190,000 based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on confirmed job-related skills and experience.
Our westernregion is seeking a Regional Director of Pharmacy Business Operations to direct and oversee the operation of our Aurora Colorado Pharmacy and collaborate with our rapidly growing multiple customer centers in geographically disbursed locations. Current locations include: CA, NM, CO.
This position reports to the Chief Pharmacy Officer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on strategies and operational plans to ensure a consistent customer experience and team member engagement, and promote operational efficiencies and standard work. This position will promote team building as demonstrated by contributing to the success of the overall organization, staff development, team member engagement, and empowerment. They will act as the primary pipeline for information to the pharmacy location’s management and team about changes in operational processes and policies.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)
- Oversight of operations across the designated region, directing the efforts of pharmacy managers and pharmacy operations.
- Responsible for the profitability of western region.
- Responsible for the proper use of company resources and assets.
- Responsible for Human Resources and Personnel needs.
- Establishes, monitors and ensures achievement of Key Performance Indicators regarding operations and delivery.
- Accomplish short and long-range goals and operational plans to achieve of pharmacy location and region objectives.
- Directs and oversees delivery logistics workflow, and escalation point with courier partners for the western region.
- Work with Chief Pharmacy Officer on strategic and operational plans and ensure the execution of plans and measure results.
- Works with Chief Pharmacy Officer and Chief Financial Offer on translating business requirements into actionable strategies and annual operating budgets. Controls operating expenditures in accordance with budgetary guidelines.
- Collaborates with senior operations management team to ensure retention of existing customers.
- Support business development opportunities for western region.
- Assists Director of Quality and Compliance with bi-annual quality assurance reviews, self-assessments for operations, and mock inspections.
- Prepares and is directly responsible for the operating and budgets for pharmacy operations by ensuring appropriate resource utilization, profitability, consistent operations, and scope of services provided.
- Ensures implementation of service standards; monitoring customer relations, service quality and recovery efforts within pharmacy operations.
- Provides leadership in the development of pharmacy programs vision and strategy for the region, including the establishment of organizationally-aligned performance goals, timelines and outcome measures; responsible for prioritizing and adjusting the strategic plan and initiatives in response to organizational, regulatory or market driven imperatives;
- Seeks out, promotes and facilitates the rapid adoption and assimilation of best practices and innovations in service, work methods, technology, and operational systems which improve pharmacy service, quality and productivity in the region.
- Determines current and future operations staffing levels; provides leadership in interviewing, selection and development of direct and support team; Evaluates performance and provide coaching to team members.
- Participates in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
- Creates relationships across the company and with external parties to reach consensus on complex strategic issues, maximizing success and championing team decisions.
- Promote sustainability of standard work and lean.
- Improve internal and external customer experience through effective leadership of Operational Excellence activities.
- Demonstrate the ability to build commitment and gain support from cross-functional management with internal team, vendors, and customers.
- Drives new technology and process roll out, champions change and engages team around action planning. Holds managers and team accountable to the proper operation and maintenance of pharmacy equipment
- Ensures all operations personnel in the region maintains a professional and courteous relationship with customers, vendors, and coworkers.
- Manages, coaches and develops key leaders. Provides work direction, resolves problems, and sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of work.
- Provides ongoing performance feedback, participates in talent management, recruiting, selection, onboarding, training, assigning, scheduling, counseling, and disciplining associates. Communicates job expectations; plans and reviews compensation actions.
- Assists in executing strategic project opportunities, recommends innovative and process improvements to senior management. Makes decisions that support and drive the organization strategy; influences others to support the decisions.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree required, with a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in pharmacy operations.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing the operations of multiple pharmacy locations.
- Experience creating and delivering proposals and presentations to customers.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other departments within an organization.
- Financial and business acumen to include experience developing and managing multi-site operations to a budget.
- Demonstrates extremely high sense of urgency, personal energy, and stamina. Capable of handling multiple priorities and extensive time demands. High level of personal integrity.
- Effectively navigates through complex situations, both internal and external, that may require multiple decision makers.
- Effective communicator with internal and external executives.
- Must have experience in Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodology.
- Ability to travel approximately 35% of the time is required.
