Overview:
This position is responsible for accurate medication order validation and drug distribution, supervising pharmacy technicians, order entry, therapeutic drug monitoring and providing drug information to nursing and physician staff.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares, labels and dispenses medications for patients in accordance with physicians' prescriptions.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, local laws and regulations pertaining to the dispensing of drugs and narcotics and the maintenance of required record.
- Maintains appropriate records of dispensing, oversees and maintains the systems that charge or credit for medications and medication treatments.
- Provides drug information and educates caregivers, patients and students regarding medications and their proper use and monitoring.
- Oversees and monitors all aspects of the medication process; collects data and presents reports and recommendations regarding issues with the medication systems.
- Maintains all equipment and systems used in the preparation, oversight and dispensing of medications.
- Reviews and monitors patient’s medication therapy and orders written by appropriate caregivers for safety and efficacy considering specific patient conditions and health status.
- Advise patient care team of issues with, or possible enhancements to, patient’s medication therapy and document such interventions.
- All other duties as requested.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or Pharm D Degree.
Licenses, Certifications:Education:
- Licensure as required by New York State guidelines.
Experience:
- None required.
- Minimum one (1) year as a Licensed Pharmacist in the State of New York, preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read, write and interpret documents.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and/or co-workers.
- Knowledge of all codes and demonstrate understanding.

Pay: $64.04 - $72.72 per hour
