Position Summary
As part of our awesome global accounts team, Simpro’s US Payroll Specialist will work with the Global Simpro Payroll and Finance team members to process weekly payrolls for all US based Simpro employees, operating in multiple states. The primary responsibility is to compile, record and process payroll accurately, and to provide excellent customer service to our employees.
What you’ll do
- Manage tax and withholding records and deductions for all federal, state, local or other corporate taxes that affect payroll accounts
- Set up each individual new hire with all the necessary forms where required with assistance of People & Culture team
- Produce yearly employee withholding tax reports in a timely fashion to ensure all employees are able to prepare their taxes without delay
- Administration and management of employee benefits
- Assist Finance team with monthly and yearly payroll reconciliations
- Review hours and pay data, and detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies
- Process and post payroll to issue employee paychecks and ACH payments
- Process miscellaneous payments related to missed time or retroactive increases
- Update employee information in the payroll system
- Maintain employee documentation in payroll / HR systems
- Liaise with the people & culture team to ensure all payroll-related policies are practical and current
- Correspond via email, video and telephone with employees regarding payroll issues
- Meet daily and weekly time-sensitive deadlines
- Willingness to accept and complete other projects as assigned
What you’ll bring
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3-5 years of prior US payroll experience is required
- Two year accounting degree, preferred but not required
- Proven ability to operate both accounting and payroll software programs
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations
- Experience with Google Suite or Microsoft Office is required
- Experience with Workday or Cloudpay preferred
- Proven ability to provide excellent customer service to our employees via verbal and written communications
- Ability and desire to work on a global team with the common goal to pay our employees accurately and on-time, while progressing regular tasks independently
- Detail-oriented and can pivot from a task when needed
- Enjoy problem solving and finding the “why”
