What you'll do on a typical day:
The Part-Time Purchasing Specialist reports to the Director, Operational Accounting, and performs the following functions:

  • Processes invoices for payment using electronic content management system workflows, reviewing purchase orders and receiving documents, and ensuring appropriate invoice approvals.
  • Assists with processing purchasing requests and ensures adherence to college and state purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Assists with obtaining and reviewing bids, processing RFP’s (Request for Proposals), coordinating with State Purchase & Contract, etc.
  • Provides general assistance to staff members in the division by preparing documents, spreadsheets, reports, data queries, and other tasks as needed for special projects.
  • Works collaboratively with administrative support staff to develop cross-training opportunities and knowledge sharing.

6. Performs other duties as assigned, which support the purpose and initiatives of the College.

Maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds.

Supports the mission, vision, and values of the College and attends College events and meetings.

Performs other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College.

Your attributes:

Required

Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field from a regionally accredited institution

Minimum one year related experience

Ability to use critical thinking and problem solving skills

Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

Excellent computer skills and commitment to use of technology

Ability to work effectively with others in a team

Ability to manage multiple activities at once and prioritize effectively

Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college
