Part-Time Literacy Zone Data Assistant Job at Brooklyn Public Library
Overview:
This is a grant-funded, part time position with a schedule of 19 hours per week @ $17 per hour.
Literacy Zones are a reform initiative developed by the New York State Board of Regents and the State Education Department to close the achievement gap in urban and rural communities.
Brooklyn Public Library Adult Learning is seeking an experienced Data Assistant to work collaboratively with Literacy Zone case managers and Office Associate in our continued drive to use data to raise program standards and meet program outcomes. The role maintains the electronic records of all Literacy Zone clients, engages in data clean-up and ensures accuracy and integrity of NYSED’s ASISTS database.
Two Positions:
1 - Eastern Parkway Adult Learning Center
1- ESOL IELCE - Kings Highway Library location
Responsibilities:
- To support the Literacy zone Case Managers in maintaining Literacy zone caseloads within the internal databases as well as the ASISTS database to ensure program quality
- To monitor HSE class attendance, follow-up, outcomes, and enter LZ program data stats.
- Maintain Literacy Zone client e-records, client contact hours, and client outcomes reports
- Compile and gather data for processing and entering into ASISTS
- Follow up with participants via email and phone to determine program outcomes, etc.
- Assist with registration, orientation, assessments, and class placements
- Complete any other duties as it relates to job
- Participate in staff development initiatives and attend NYC RAEN meetings/trainings
- Minimum of High School Diploma and/or Equivalent required -clerical experience a plus
- High level of speed and accuracy in typing
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changes and shifting priorities
- Strong technology skills, software applications, including Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or Google Suite
- Knowledge of instructional software, Learning Management Systems (LMS) platforms, social media, wikis, and blogs
- Experience with web-based databases (Salesforce, ASISTS)
- Experience working in a customer service oriented environment
- Ability to work in a fast paced-team environment
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Must be able to work varied schedule to include mornings, evenings and weekends
