EQUINE DIRECTOR (PART TIME)

Barefoot Republic Camp is looking for an experienced equine instructor to lead the care and instruction of our Camp Equine Program. This position will be responsible for all aspects of the Horseback Program including riding instruction; animal care (feeding, wellbeing & cleanliness of horses); cleanliness of Horse barn, riding rings and equipment shed; staff direction and evaluation; preparation and direction of Horse Shows for visiting days and intercamp equestrian events.

*Skills* *

● Can keep an organized, orderly barn

● Sustain the horse’s feeding and turnout routine

● Properly clean and put together tack, equipment, and work other necessary barn tools ● Manage the orders of appropriate amounts of feed, shavings, and hay for the horses

● Can maintain a healthy living situation for the horses: clean stalls, clean water buckets, clean feed buckets, etc.

● Through the evaluation of the campers’ riding abilities and knowledge of each individual horse’s capabilities, can pair campers to horses for the duration of a session

● Demonstrates horsemanship knowledge with program design and class planning

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

 Attitude of service and a commitment to Barefoot Republic Camp and its ministry.

 Possess an evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the organizational goals, including a signed agreement with Barefoot Republic Camp statement of faith and community responsibilities.

 Experience and familiarity with Christian camp ministries.

 Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and in person, as well as on the phone.

 Ability to undertake responsibilities above in a friendly, respectful, detail-oriented manner.

Skills and Abilities

 Maintain a viable, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and exemplify that relationship in daily life.

 Ability to work with other staff in planning logistics and other decision-making.

 Self-motivated person who can handle multiple projects and issues at the same time.

Physical Demands

It is helpful to be in good physical condition and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Environmental conditions

The position involves working outside.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
