Required QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education:
Two (2) years of post-secondary education in Manufacturing technology or a related field.

Required Experience:
Two (2) years of experience in Manufacturing Technology.

Licensure or Certification Requirements

Conditions of Employment:
  • Successful applicants are required to pass a criminal background check.
  • Must work and reside in the state of Oregon at the time their work is being performed.

Preferred QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education
An AA/AS degree in Manufacturing technology or related field is preferred.

Preferred Experience
  • Familiarity with LCC course materials, methods, and procedures. Experience teaching manufacturing at a community college is preferred.
  • Experience using Streaming Teacher, and Fusion 360.

Position Purpose:
Contributes to student academic success and completion by assisting students in their study of Manufacturing Technology. Assists students to become successful and independent learners by using CNC, machining, tolling, microcomputers, software, copier, audiovisual equipment, calculators, calipers, cameras, and other lab/shop equipment to improve their critical thinking, problem-solving, study strategies, and ability to make connections between manufacturing concepts and applications.

Supports the program’s needs by engaging in partnership building with educational institutions, industry, and other stakeholders.

Essential Functions:
  • Assists students with all Manufacturing classes from basic through advanced Manufacturing by answering specific questions about Manufacturing problems, assigned activities, and Manufacturing aids such as Tooling-U. Work requires knowledge of related equipment, tools, curriculum, and instructional methods.
  • Supports students in Manufacturing classes by explaining and modeling effective study strategies.
  • Provides answers in multiple ways to meet learner needs.
  • Shows enthusiasm for using Manufacturing Technology.
  • Listens to and understands student questions, demonstrate the process, observe practice, show alternative methods, and tutor effectively.
  • Maintains a positive, student-centered learning environment by learning students’ names and introducing students who may be interested in studying together.
  • Encourages a growth mindset towards learning Manufacturing Technology.
  • Explains and models effective math study habits such as note-taking, use of course materials, time management, and test preparation.
  • Provides students in Manufacturing courses with additional resources and explanations to foster learner confidence and persistence and reduce anxiety.
  • Obtain, prepare and maintain materials, equipment and supplies for student labs and classes; clean up and organize lab supplies.
  • Promotes student use of the online curriculum (Tooling – U).
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings, training, and advisory committee meetings.
  • Work Safely and within guidelines established by OSHA, the college, and the division.
  • Supervise Manufacturing students in the use of equipment and materials; obtain, prepare and maintain supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • This position may have the responsibility to assign tasks, provide priorities and train student assistants and hourly employees.

Physical Demands/Working Environment:
The working conditions are in a fully operational Manufacturing shop setting with multiple pieces of machinery, tools, grinders, etc. Lift and transport up to 50 lbs; use a computer for more than 5 hours/day, ability to work on a concrete floor for more than 5 hours /day. Work safely.
