Job Overview
The Parabolic Flight Coach position is a contracted role that is ideal for an outgoing individual with extensive experience in customer-facing roles and a deep connection to the space industry. This position is responsible for effectively communicating safety information about Zero-G flights in an entertaining and informative manner.
The Parabolic Flight Coach proactively assists the Flight Day Coordinator (GSC) during flight day operations. This role is contracted on an as-and-when-needed basis, when we are operating a parabolic flight in the city you live in. A successful Parabolic Flight Coach can expect to join 5 to 20 local flight events a year. Occasional domestic travel may be requested if you are available.
Responsibilities for the Parabolic Flight Coach:

  • Leading a group of up to 14 people throughout a parabolic flight experience, and assisting with a group of up to 30.
  • Managing group dynamics including facilitating, coaching through challenges, effective communication, conversation, awareness of self and group needs, and making sure that each Flyer is having a great time.
  • Keeping the experience on schedule without rushing Flyers.
  • Ensuring the safety of Flyers both on the ground and on the flight.
  • Caring for and cleaning up after ill Flyers.
  • Identify Flyer needs, both physically and psychologically, while addressing them in a professional manner.
  • Unload/load the program equipment to/from the aircraft/vehicles and set up/break down flight day venues.
  • Assisting in the management of flight day inventory, and submitting via Airtable.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance and decorum at all times.
  • Assisting the Flight Day Coordinator (GSC) with pre and post-flight logistics and ensuring the flight experience is consistent with customer expectations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Flight Day Coordinator or VP of Program Operations.

Minimum Expectations for the Parabolic Coach:

  • Experience leading groups in a tourism or hospitality setting.
  • Basic Knowledge of the sub-orbital and orbital space and space tourism industry.
  • Available to join flights on weekends and occasional weekdays.

Preferred Experience and Availability for the Parabolic Coach:

  • 2 or more years of experience leading groups in a tourism or hospitality setting.
  • Advanced knowledge of the sub-orbital space tourism industry and its history.
  • Knowledge of scientific principles and concepts and/or experience in scientific research.
  • Available to join flights any day of the week.
  • Available to commit to up to three weeks at a time 1 to 3 times a year.

Zero-G Requirements:

  • Located within the U.S. with eligibility to work in the United States without a sponsored visa and the ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background check.
  • U.S. Citizenship; must be able to travel freely within the United States and without restriction to all countries.
  • Current, valid U.S. Passport and U.S. Driver's Licence.
  • Must live within 50 miles of the Fort Lauderdale (FLL) airport.
  • Local travel is required using your own vehicle.
  • Must be able to lift and push 50 lbs.
  • Athletic ability with exceptional spatial and situational awareness.
  • The ability to employ exceptional communication, leadership, and teamwork.
  • Ability to fly 30 parabolas or more in one day with no susceptibility to motion sickness
  • Ability to pass additional background checks for contracts requiring special clearance.

Details:

  • Contracted Position with a daily pay rate of $300/day.

Hiring Process (1 to 3) months:

  • Theoretical Virtual Coach Training.
  • In-Person Coach Training - 2 Flight Minimum.
