About Food in Service to the Homebound (FISH)

Operating in collaboration with New Reach, Inc., FISH is also a 501c3 nonprofit that has served the Greater New Haven community since 1968. They have helped feed hundreds of thousands of homebound, food insecure individuals, families, and Veterans, delivering free bags of groceries directly to their homes. FISH has shared space with New Reach since 2020. They are committed to alleviating the physical, emotional, and financial stress caused by hunger and because their ideologies and work align so well with New Reach, they joined together to ensure FISH can seamlessly continue to fulfill their mission.

About the Position

The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the day-to-day operations of FISH. The person in this role will be the main point of contact for FISH and will have frequent contact with volunteers, vendors, clients, and the public. This is a rare opportunity to act in an entrepreneurial capacity to grow and evolve FISH and create a unique experience for those who use this service. The Operations Manager will be responsible for creating relationships with local businesses, schools, healthcare providers and other non profits. This individual will help to create efficiencies to stabilize the infrastructure and position FISH for continued growth. The Operations Manager will be responsible for directing team development and advancement, as well as program and project management by supervising and recruiting team members, tracking, and measuring progress on work projects, scheduling, and leading team meetings, providing structured coaching, and supporting daily operational needs. They will be working with the Chief Operations Officer to create strategic plans for scalability that aligns with the organization's long and short term objectives and future growth.

Qualifications

A qualified Operations Manager will have a bachelors degree, at least 2 years of previous management experience. They will be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook and have the ability to easily learn new programs. They must have a current CT Driver's License and ability to maintain current license, as well as access to own reliable transportation. They will have demonstrated initiative, good judgement and self-direction. d Outlook with the ability to easily learn new program.

All New Reach and FISH employees are expected to have solutions-based approach to presented problems and be supportive, engaging and encouraging to peers and staff. All employees are expected to be adaptable to change and willing to take on more responsibility.

The Operations Manager is expected to be able to lift up to 50 pounds and have the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

The hours for this role are Monday through Friday 8-5 and will pay the between $52000 and $60000 annually.
