We currently have day shift, part-time, on-call, evening, and night shifts available. Evening and night shift staff receive a $1.00 an hour shift differential.

Some of what you'll do:

• Provide patient care and security to patients who have acute psychiatric and physical needs
• Observe and document behaviors and changes in patient conditions
• Participate in the directed treatment plan for patients
• Encourage and supervise patients in a group or in individual recreational, social, and related activities; act as a patient escort
• Lift and transfer patients

We're looking for someone who is:

• Willing to work with patients who have behavioral, emotional, psychiatric, social, medical, and/or correctional issues, and who may exhibit inappropriate non-compliant and/or aggressive behavior
• Able to communicate with management, peers, clients, and the public
• Proficient in the operation of the following equipment: computer, copy machine, metal detector, and patient lifting equipment
• Able to adjust scheduled hours of work to meet the hospital's workload demands

Who should apply:

• Those with at least 2 years of experience in the care of psychiatric patients. (Note: Licensure as a Practical Nurse may be substituted for the experience provided that the training included experience in psychiatric nursing. College-level course work in one of the social sciences may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.)
• Registration as a Nursing Assistant is required.

College-level coursework/degrees in Behavioral Science, Social Science, or Social Services that may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis can include coursework such as:

• Social Work

• Counseling
• Sociology
• Criminal Justice
• Psychology

Proof of education will be required at the time of the interview.
