1. Job Summary

This position will be responsible for the fabrication of precision machined parts using both manual and CNC mills and lathes, surface grinders, EDM’s and other basic shop equipment. It will also be required to do machine assembly, debug, installation, and field service work as needed. The position will work individually and on teams concentrating on quality, cost, and delivery to meet customer’s expectations and satisfaction. This position will provide input on mechanical design projects and work in an environment where the operation of more than one machine doing subsequent and simultaneous operations is expected.

2. Principal Responsibilities

· Expert in set up and operation of manual/conventional mills, lathes, EDM, and CNC equipment to fabricate machined components with the desire needed for proficient, close tolerance high precision machining.

· Ensure all relevant drawings, cad models, and instructions are to the latest revision prior to work commencing

· Read blueprint drawings, job orders, tooling instructions or other information to determine specification and procedures needed to fabricate the assigned part(s).

· CAD/CAM Programming using NX or Mastercam

· Determine and plan scope and sequence of operations and method of setup to fabricate parts in the most cost and time efficient manner possible.

· Ensure all components produced meet specifications using a variety of machinist’s hand tools and appropriate measuring equipment such as (Micrometers, Verniers, Height Gauges, Dial Indicators, Bore Gauges, Rockwell Hardness Tester, Optical Comparators, Video Scopes, etc).

· Work within close tolerances and be able to work in a setting to meet cost and lead times as quoted.

· Participate in fabrication projects and assist with improvements, methods, solutions and procedures to enhance project quality, cost and delivery.

· Perform routine machine maintenance.

· Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and stand for long periods of time.

· Must be able to contribute to continuously improve output, quality, cost and delivery.

· Willingness to work overtime

· Communicate problems or ideas with supervisors or other appropriate personnel.

· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

3. Required Education and Experience

· High School Diploma / GED; ability to read, write, and has basic arithmetic skills.

· Minimum of 10+ years of experience in machining, tool and/or mold work

· Must understand/apply shop math

· Ability to work in team environment; Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills

· Experienced with NX CAD/CAM software or Mastercam

· Ability to read, evaluate and work from engineering drawings

· Ability to use Microsoft Office suite of products. (Word, Excel, etc.)

· Ability to work overtime as required.

4. Preferred Experience

· Technical Degree / Associates

· Welding experience a plus

· Must have basic mechanical aptitude in troubleshooting production equipment

· Proficient in operating all tool shop machinery and the use of precision measuring devices

5. Physical Demands and Abilities

· Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects 25 - 105+ pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

· Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment.

· Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00 - $42.50 per hour
