Neighborhood Legal Services Michigan is seeking a full-time AmeriCorps Member to serve as a Resource Generation and Management Specialist. Neighborhood Legal Services Michigan is an agency with several divisions: housing, legal, and education. The housing team provides services to Detroit and Out-Wayne County through programs that provide permanent supportive housing, rapid rehousing, transitional housing, first time homebuyer education, and foreclosure prevention. MCAH's AmeriCorps members join a corps of 23 members serving with housing and homeless service providers across the state in an effort to provide direct, supportive services to individuals experiencing or at-risk of homelessness. Members will receive training from the program through orientation, mid-year, and end-year training as well as on-going webinars/trainings focused on professional development and networking. Sites will provide position-specific training, including training and licensing in the Michigan Statewide Homeless Management Information System. Service benefits include a $19,000 living stipend (pre-tax, distributed bi-weekly) and a $6,495 Segal Education Award. Full-time members may opt into health insurance through the program, and may qualify for income-based child care assistance. Member Duties : The Resource Generation and Management Specialist AmeriCorps Member would be responsible for creating employment opportunities for clients through networking and developing an employer mentorship program, linking clients to GED and skilled trade programs, assisting with resume writing, helping clients to write workable budgets, teaching life skills classes, and assisting with resources to mainstream benefits.
