HIRING POSITION: Medical Scribe/Advanced Clinical Assistant
TYPE OF POSITION: Temporary with consideration for permanent position at end of 3-month Probationary Period
LOCATION: Family Medicine Practice in Auburn, CA - Short commute from Roseville/Loomis/Rocklin/Grass Valley/Orangevale
HOURLY PAY: Determined by experience; overtime accrued with total weekly hours > 40
JOB HOURS (Hours may change due to the dynamic patient healthcare needs):
- Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (includes 30 minute unpaid lunch)
- Daily shifts vary from 7 to 10 hours daily
EXPECTED JOB DUTIES
- Check-in patients (verify and document patient insurance card, demographic information, collect payments as needed)
- Give patients encounter specific questionnaire/screening tests during patient rooming process; input data obtained into EMR
- Obtain and document patient vitals (blood pressure, respiratory rate, heart rate, pulse oximetry, height, and weight)
- Obtain and document patient medical history, psychiatric history, surgical history, social history, family history, sexual history, and OB/GYN history during new patient visits; verify during all established patient visits
- Perform medication reconciliation for all patient visits
- Verify allergies and pharmacy on file for all patient visits
- Accompany physician in room to document patient visit
- Chaperone physician as needed for procedures
- Pend orders, medication refills, labs, etc for physician to sign at end of patient appointment session
- Be able to independently collect and run throat swab test, urine analysis test, urine pregnancy test
- Checkout patients and schedule patient follow up appointments
- Be able to administer and document immunizations given to patients 0 days to 99 years old
- Address faxes/patient messages/emails under the supervision of physician
- Assist with clinical and non-clinical patient chart prep
- Perform clinical/non-clinical data entry; complete immunization registry data entry
- Maintain inventory of laboratory, immunization (specific PFM Covid-19 Immunization protocol), and medical supplies
- Call patient to schedule an appointment for abnormal labs/imaging found in patient workup
- Clean and prepare examination/procedure room for patient encounter
- Be able to assist and set up instruments for the following procedures: pap smear, incision and drainage, skin tag removal, and joint injections
- Be able to independently perform the following procedures: ear lavages and EKGs.
- Answer patient calls
- Schedule patient appointments
- Assist with processing of outgoing referrals
- Transcribe voicemails
- Call patients to inform them of normal results
- Process and coordinate patient care for specialist referrals physician provides patient as needed
- Sterilize equipment
- Complete and assist physician with projects as needed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- FULLY VACCINATED with a Covid-19 Immunization series; booster required
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree with pre-health career track encouraged
- Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy appreciated
- Skilled in operating various medical record software and hardware, word-processing, and database software programs
- Minimum of 60 WPM preferred
EPIC PROFICIENCY PREFERRED (training will be provided during 2 week Training Period)

- Have exceptional grammar and writing skills (you will be expected to write/communicate via emails, interoffice memos, document practice meeting minutes, create/amend patient forms, etc.);
- Have the ability to meet assignment deadlines;

- Understand and follow corporate and medical chain of command.
PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE: Every new hire is required to successfully complete a PAID 2-week Training Period at $14/hour regardless of their experience or scope of knowledge. Once the training is complete and the employee is deemed by the physician to have mastered the expectations of the position, the normal hourly pay will start. The employee will be aware of the offered pay prior to the start of the 2-week training.
