Medical Lab Tech Will Be Responsible For: (examples from other descriptions)
- Demonstrates proper methods and procedures in operating all laboratory equipment. Maintains proper operation ensuring accuracy of test results. Performs troubleshooting as needed.
- Performs test procedures on various patient specimens using laboratory equipment and/or reagents.
- Evaluates reliability of tests by adhering to quality control procedures in performing tests to produce accurate results.
- Collects, prepares/handles specimens, adhering to safety and laboratory policy, and routes them to appropriate laboratory section or to reference laboratory for all testing not performed on site.
- Records and reports test results to aid in diagnosis and treatment of disease; notifies appropriate personnel and physician of abnormal and critical results;
Medical Lab Tech Qualifications
What You Will Need:
Two year Associate Degree in Medical Technology program approved by AMA; registration with nationally approved agency preferred.
Completion of board of Registry Examination, with American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or other agencies, or
completion of CLA (Certified Laboratory Assistant) program and completion of board of Registry examination and
registered with American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or other agencies with more than 15 years of experience.
None required. Three months to one year working under close supervision.
