Position Summary:
Schafer Industries is currently seeking a Scheduler/Planner for its Schafer Gear Works operation in South Bend, Indiana.

Job Summary:
The Scheduler position is a diverse position for planning, scheduling, releasing, purchasing, and tracking of workflow from the engineering department through the production department.

Essential Functions:
  • Scheduling
  • Refresh MRP daily, and run report weekly
  • Release all work order packets per MRP to the production department.
  • Order material per MRP requirement to build the product.
  • Identify material shortages to manage exceptions.
  • Monitor proper inventory transactions on all work orders.
  • Print all work order packets. Run the report, sort, and use judgment calls on when to release a work order.
  • ECN’s - Print and replacing work orders on floor as impacted.
  • Scan all work orders for both SAP and SGW and filed and organized per the procedure.
  • Purchasing
  • Order material per MRP requirement to build the product.
  • Identify material shortages to manage exceptions.
  • Weekly review and ordering imports from all overseas suppliers by issuing blanket orders to receive blanks / products in time to avoid excess inventory or air freight
  • Reporting/Tracking/Inventory
  • Maintain parts maintenance, service maintenance and resource maintenance in Visual.
  • Track/publish the import shipments and firm work orders for incoming shipments.
  • Monthly monitor open work orders for inventory errors and timely closing
  • Suppliers Liaison tasks
  • Maintain QMS certifications from all suppliers and maintain Approved Supplier List.
  • Resolve PO issues with Suppliers and accounting for pricing errors in timely manner on weekly basis.
  • Expedite OSP for timely or expedited turnaround by working with production manager.
  • Other tasks
  • Complete Internal & External ECN’s within 24 hours.
  • Monitor receiving process on raw material receipts and outside service processes and issues in the Visual MRP system.
  • Responsible for accuracies on receipts and approval in Concur for variances.
  • Active participation in production or other meetings.
  • Coordinate and manage special projects as assigned.
  • Assist with the development, documentation, and implementation of procedures/standards
  • Follow documented ISO9001 & AS9100 quality standards & participate in ISO/AS activities
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field is preferred
  • 2+ years’ experience as buyer and in scheduling or related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • ERP/MRP experience required, experience with Visual is preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of machining process is preferred
  • Ability to multi-task, strong organizational, and communication skills are required.
  • Experience in ISO quality plan is preferred
