Job Summary
Work Shift
1 - First Shift
The Material Handler stores and distributes materials and product throughout the manufacturing environment by means of a variety of material handling equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Demonstrate the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused, and stewardship and model the associated behaviors.
2. Read production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
3. Convey materials and items from receiving or production areas to designated areas throughout the manufacturing facility.
4. Sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or in bins according to documented standard work, or predetermined sequence (i.e. part number, commodity, size, product code).
5. Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for material, tools, or other stock items and distribute to production work areas.
6. Mark materials with identifying information.
7. Open boxes, crates, and other containers.
8. Weigh or count items for distribution to ensure conformance to standard work and company policy.
9. Fill customer orders from stock and convey orders to packing stations or shipping department.
10. Drive forklift or other material handling vehicles when necessary.
11. Support 5S/workplace organization goals of the department and offer suggestions and make improvements that achieve the department’s performance board metrics.
Education and/or Experience
  • High School diploma or general education degree.
  • Less than one year related experience and/or training.
Other Skills and Abilities
  • Effectively present information verbally and written and respond to questions from groups of managers and suppliers.
  • Perform basic functions in Glovia.
  • Perform problem solving techniques and root cause analysis.
  • Perform multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to assess, evaluate, and carry out appropriate action for a given situation.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration
Must have the ability to obtain a Vermeer Forklift Operators License.
Work Location
ONSITE: A team member’s day-to-day work is best done on a Vermeer campus. If work content can be occasionally completed at an offsite location, discuss potential arrangements with your manager.
