Polaris Windows & Doors is seeking an Engineer to lead our Product Design Department. This position reports to the Vice President of Manufacturing. The Engineer will be responsible for the design and testing of our manufactured vinyl windows and doors. This position will work closely with other departments such as Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, and Warranty Service to provide them with insights on products to communicate to consumers. The ideal candidate must be confident managing teams while setting goals, budgets and timelines for various projects.

Job Responsibilities

The Engineer plans and directs all aspects of engineering activities and projects within Polaris Windows & Doors. The Engineering Manager must utilize best practice engineering methods and provide expert technical guidance for engineering initiatives. The position will be responsible for essential job duties including, but not limited to:

• Ensure all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with the organization's established policies and objectives;
• Oversee front-end and back-end development teams and their projects;
• Ensure compliance with security regulations, and industry organizations (Energy Star, North American Fenestration Standard);
• Manage software development projects by setting requirements, goals and timelines;
• Design strategies for future development projects based on the company’s overall objectives and resources;
• Incorporate components, materials, and tools that result in cost-effective and quality output;
• Hire, manage, and develop an engineering team;
• Coordinate with external suppliers for new integrations and tools;
• Coordinate and direct activities related to maintenance, testing, quality assurance, operations and production at a manufacturing site
• Develop detailed plans for new designs and products;
• Make determinations for equipment, staff and training needs;
• Lead research and development projects that produce new designs, products and processes.

Requirements

• Managerial experience in manufacturing and design;
• BSc/MSc in Engineering, Computer Science or relevant field;
• Leadership abilities with a strategic mind;
• Excellent project management skills;
• Strong verbal, visual, and written communication skills with the ability to explain approach to all levels in the organization including key stakeholders;
• Experience in the areas of tooling, prints, specifications, product maintenance, budgeting, and software products; and
• Proven success working cross-functionally and contributing to the product strategy to successfully deliver on the product roadmap.
