Position Description

As an active participant in the global capital markets, Volvo Financial Services (VFS) is engaged in the development and execution of syndication, securitization, and other capital markets transactions in more than 20 markets. The Capital Strategies Team, lead from our headquarters in Greensboro, NC with team members located in the US, UK, and Germany that drive our global capital markets activities.

Within the Capital Strategies team, the Operational Readiness function leads critical components of VFS’ capital markets agenda. We are responsible for defining and ensuring the implementation, governance, compliance, and continuous improvement of VFS’ Capital Markets Operational Readiness Framework and related processes in all markets engaging in capital markets transactions.

The Manager, Capital Strategies will play a critical role in supporting our global capital markets activities. The role works with Global, Regional and local operations teams in the design, implementation and governance of capital markets operations infrastructure. The role will act as the administrator of the team’s systems and financial models, as well as supporting the delivery of the Capital Strategies Team’s reporting and digitization objectives.

This position is part of VFS Global Headquarters located in Greensboro, NC USA, and will report to the Director, Capital Strategies Operational Readiness.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and implement Capital Markets Readiness initiatives for VFS Capital Strategies-supported products to ensure VFS businesses have the necessary infrastructure in place to support the execution and on-going management of Capital Markets transactions globally, including syndications and securitization documentation, business policy, and regulatory requirement throughout its life
  • Develop strong relationships with Regional and local DS&IT, and local Finance, Credit, and Operations teams
  • Share proven best practices across business regions and markets
  • Identify opportunities to streamline, consolidate, and digitize capital markets-related reporting and readiness processes and procedures where possible within and across businesses
  • Support management of Capital Markets Readiness requirements after transaction closing
  • Work with Capital Strategies and business teams to prepare and implement corrective action plans
  • Manage and act as steward of departmental financial and profitability models
  • Design, implement, and test ABS System changes for new platforms and continuous improvement enhancements
  • Consult on the Global Data Definitions team by assisting with KPI definitions, calculations, and testing.
  • Develop portfolio and transaction performance dashboards and other process controls
  • Monitor dashboards and engage with Capital Strategies leadership, business teams, and other constituents to respond to identified issues
  • Consult with the Business Risk Assurance and Advisory team in their testing of CM processes
  • Champion quality assurance
  • Develop contingency plans to deal with critical situations and emergencies

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MIS or MBA preferred
  • 7+ years experience in financial services
  • Experience in capital markets operations including syndication, structured finance, and securitization preferred
  • Strong understanding of commercial financing procedures from asset origination through asset disposition
  • Strong candidates will have demonstrated proficiency in sophisticated financial modeling; an aptitude for systems, data management and reporting; and the capacity for process management and continuous improvement
  • Experience with documentation of complex system and operations
  • Demonstrated project management experience

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge of Capital Markets products, mechanics, and their operational implications
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • At minimum, intermediate proficiency with data warehouse structures and business intelligence/reporting tools (Power BI, Crystal Reports, Business Objects, SQL Studio).
  • Ability to perform, or willingness and aptitude to learn SQL coding to create and implement ABS System enhancements
  • Knowledge of VFS’ systems (Navision, Hyperion, VFS Connect, WFS, InfoLease, Vienna, Charisma, Leo, or CoreView) desirable
  • Strong verbal and written communication, presentation skills and professional presence
  • Demonstrated ability to translate document/contract language into process requirements
  • Ability to build productive business relationships and achieve consensus-based outcomes
