The Role:
The incumbent is responsible for maintaining excellent banquet operations to ensure guest satisfaction. The Manager will attend leadership, department and banquet event meetings. Requires close attention to detail in every aspect of work while maintaining an efficient pace.
Responsibilities:
The incumbent is responsible for:
Planning, directing and leading all day-to-day operations for special events
Promoting and maintaining exceptional customer service standards
Assisting with the evaluation of Banquet Team members
Ensuring proper set up, décor and enhancements are executed according to client specifications for individually assigned functions and events
Check all function and event spaces for cleanliness and readiness for all events and ensure all equipment is in good working order
Assisting with the development of cost control systems to reduce waste in food, supplies, and labor
Maintaining a strong positive relationship with the Sales Team, the Food & Beverage Team and communicate all changes timely to ensure successful event planning and execution
Holding pre-event meetings with the Banquet Team to ensure readiness for the event
Having knowledge and use of Opera Cloud and Micros system
Learning Paycom, Singenuity, TIX, Opera Cloud, Adaco, Intaact and additional software systems
Attending and participating in special corporate and department meetings – BEO, F&B, and Pre-cons
Managing inventory for food and beverage products, linens, uniforms, china glassware, silver, equipment, office supplies cleaning supplies and equipment
Assisting with the weekly scheduling of staff for the Banquet Department
Ensuring accuracy of Banquet Checks and present to clients for approval
Developing and maintaining effective relationships with vendors and service providers
Acting as primary customer advocate and contact person during specific, individually assigned contracted events. In some cases, multiple events concurrently
Working in concert with the Accounting Division to ensure accurate invoices
Communicating and executing departmental and property emergency procedures and ensure staff are trained in safety procedures
Reinforcing a high standard of sanitization and cleanliness and food safety standards
Adhering to all regulations governing the service of food and beverage as mandated by the State of California
Organize and Lead Banquet Stewarding in daily job duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be extremely well organized and detail oriented
Must have working knowledge of Oracle Micros and Opera Cloud
Must possess mathematical skills to calculate payment and discounts
Must have working knowledge of budgets
Must be energetic, service-oriented with a positive attitude who enjoys working with a variety of guests, co-workers, and management
Understanding of ABC Law (Alcoholic Beverage Control)
Must be minimum of 21 years of age
Exceptional cash handling skills
Education and/or Experience:
Hospitality degree or two (2) years experience in a fast paced environment preferably in an upscale restaurant or hotel preferably in a remote setting
CA Food Handler Certificate
CA Responsible Beverage Service Certificate
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to effectively respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Requires visual acuity and ability to hear to clearly communicate with managers, coworkers, guests and vendors
Must be able to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time
Must be able to reach with arms and hands
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
Must have finger to hand dexterity to be able to grip, grasp items or equipment
