This position requires the applicant to successfully pass a drug screening.This position is Essential and is required to report to duty before, during, and immediately after a civil emergency.Under general supervision, responsibilities include a wide variety of routine and general maintenance and repair work through laboring knowledge acquired through training or work experience supporting activities such as conventions, luncheons, commercial exhibitions, trade shows, weddings, business meetings, festivals, and performances in which MidFlorida Event Center facilities are utilized. Employees in this classification can perform routine tasks independently, though work remains subject to review and inspection during and upon completion of assigned tasks. All work is performed according to the established and applicable safety standards, codes, and regulations. Good customer service skills are required due to considerable client contact and interaction. Facilitates the development of public trust and confidence in the City.The salary range for this position is $15.00-$22.94 depending on qualifications

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Keeps the mission, vision and values of the City of Port St. Lucie at the forefront of decision making and action; builds strategic and collaborative relationships and interacts with others in a way that builds confidence and trust; provides excellent customer service by taking action to accomplish objectives, maintains high levels of work and productivity by generating innovative solutions to work situations.Sets up special arrangements for commercial exhibits, conventions, or other public activities including audio visual equipment.Sets up and assists with operating the audio board, microphones, speakers, projectors, and screens.Performs light repair and maintenance with use of hand tools.Operates light motorized equipment such as floor scrubber, forklift, scissor lift, and light truck.Hangs drapes, flags, curtains, and similar objects.Sets up and takes down movable stages.Moves, sets up, takes down, and positions chairs, tables, or other furniture according to prescribed arrangement.Assists with general cleaning requirements throughout the facility.Performs facility inspections.Empties trash and recycling.Properly secures and stores all tools and equipment.Performs semi-skilled maintenance work.Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service.Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.Sweeps, scrubs, and mops floors.Other duties as may be assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Must be willing and able to learn the functions of a Maintenance Worker. Possession of valid Florida Driver's License and maintenance of a clean driving record required.Knowledge of general repair and maintenance techniques to keep facility fixtures in good repair.Knowledge of tools and equipment required to perform duties.Knowledge of the safe use of janitorial supplies.Skill in using related equipment and tools. Ability to read and write and follow directions with event production notes.Ability to perform building repairs.Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.Ability to keep records and reports.Ability to focus on the positive in every situation.Ability to model respect for individuals, teams, and the organization.Ability to stay centered when challenged.Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as dictated by event activity.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Ability to follow through with assigned tasks.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions that may be adverse and extreme (heat, humidity, cold, rain, etc.). The employee is frequently exposed to noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, uneven surfaces, heights, and stressful situations. The employee works with hazardous power tools and is exposed to heights up to 30 feet. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The work environment is fast paced.
