Maintenance Tech I Job at Speare Memorial Hospital
Installs, repairs, replaces and maintains all fixed and portable Hospital equipment systems and facilities, including grounds, parking lots, etc. Inspects work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations. Responsibilities also include documenting safety inspections, citing dangerous areas / procedures and recommending corrective actions. Has knowledge in the procedures and safety measures in area(s) of specialty. $1,500.00 sign on bonus.
- Repairs equipment and systems as found necessary or as reported by other departments to include plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry related crafts using hand and power tools, torches, ladders, etc.
- Assists in assembling and/or installing new equipment and completing renovation work as directed.
- Performs snow removal functions as necessary, including plowing, shoveling, sanding, and salting during the winter months in order to make sure that all pathways and paved areas are safe for patients, visitors and the public.
- Uses maintenance power tools such as saws, plumbing, electrical test equipment, etc.
- Performs a variety of tasks involving skilled trades of carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, etc.
- Routinely performs periodic tests, inspection, and repairs on fixed or portable plumbing, heating, and air conditioning systems.
- Assists in the opening, cleaning, and inspection of steam traps, barium traps, dilution tanks, chillers, condensers, etc.
- Performs, as directed, electrical safety inspections of equipment, electrical receptacles, hospital and patient-owned appliances.
- Documents all electrical safety tests and keeps records current.
- Tests emergency generators and other emergency equipment as directed.
- Performs data input, establishes and maintains filing and record keeping, formats and completes departmental reports.
- Performs various other duties as assigned.
- Reports all safety incidents, accidents, hazardous conditions, safety risks, etc., and takes appropriate action to correct any safety or environmental hazard.
- Utilizes Maintenance Department supplies and equipment effectively and efficiently.
- Ensures proper security for equipment and supplies
- Complies with hospital and departmental policies, procedures, regulations and standards as related to job.
- Participates in on call rotation.
Qualifications:
- Education
Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred: On the job training or apprenticeship program in a related field
- Work Experience
Required: 3-5 years of experience in one or more of the following trades HVAC, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting or plant maintenance.
Preferred: Experienced working in the healthcare or hospitality field
- Licensure/Certifications/Registrations
Required: A license or certification in any of the trades listed above
Preferred: Familiar with Life Safety Code, compliance and safety regulations
Building operators certification or similar along with a trade certificate or be licensed in a trade
- Other Skills/Knowledge
Required: Ability to use basic maintenance equipment such as saws, drills, and other power equipment, as well as hand tools, sanders, grinders, saber saws, band saws, etc.
- Must possess a valid New Hampshire driver’s license and be able to drive Hospital vehicles.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and demonstrate knowledge of system design.
