THE ROLE

The Maintenance Manager manages and coordinates the maintenance processes and workforce to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation and to maximize production capacity. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for providing leadership and direction to all plant maintenance personnel and contractors who are responsible for repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment in manufacturing operation.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Recognizes and addresses patterns in production defects caused by machines and takes corrective action to address them
  • Maintains up to date and accurate maintenance data, including records of all maintenance and repair activities conducted, purchase orders for spare/replacement parts and spare parts inventory
  • Maintains frequent contact with production staff to ensure proper functioning of all equipment and the timely completion of previously communicated maintenance needs
  • Develops and implements standardized maintenance repair techniques and preventative maintenance procedures to ensure the most effective and efficient methods are in use
  • Plans and schedules preventative and predictive maintenance to ensure optimal equipment function, durability, and reliability
  • Identifies and proactively addresses safety concerns and enforces staff compliance with safety regulations
  • Ensures spare part lists are available for equipment and are compatible
  • Ensures all new employees receive necessary safety and technical training to ensure efficient ramp up into maintenance roles
  • Follow all plant safety policies and procedures and is actively involved in safety, participates in safety programs, engaged in safety activities, performs risk assessments, and demonstrates ownership as well as leadership in personal safety and the safety of other team members
  • Responsible to eliminate all causes of failure and ensure full useful life in coordination with daily maintenance completed by operating personnel
  • Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation to ensure continuous production operations
  • Creates and manages the maintenance and stores budgets
  • Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards
  • Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities
  • Executes plant-specific maintenance vision and mission to assure continuous improvement and alignment with the corporate vision
  • Ensures that all manufacturing / facility systems are properly resourced and that all resources are efficiently utilized
  • Directs maintenance supervisors and hourly maintenance associates in their roles and responsibilities to meet plant objectives in safety, quality, cost, and customer service
  • Provides technical support for efficient troubleshooting / problem solving activities and maintenance repair to maximize efficiencies and limit downtime
  • Continuously applies sound mechanical and electrical solutions to resolve hindrances to plant efficiencies and to drive continuous improvement
  • Provides leadership in implementing / maintaining preventive and predictive maintenance programs
  • Manages maintenance department costs within budgetary guidelines
  • Ensures that appropriate inventory levels for standard replacement parts are maintained
  • Manages the buildings and grounds
  • Performs follow-up analyses to identify and resolve recurring downtime / inefficient operational issues
  • Schedules mandatory inspections and coordinate certifications and appropriate authorities

QUALIFICATIONS | SKILLS | ABILITIES

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent; Associate’s Degree strongly preferred
  • 7-10 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 3-5 years Supervisory / Management experience
  • Basic mathematical and statistical skills
  • Basic financial skills and understanding
  • Key Leadership Competencies: Ethics / Values and Integrity / Trust, Action-Oriented, Directing Others, Priority Setting, Critical Thinking, Organizing, Process Management
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team player, be organized, and plan ahead
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
