Primary Objectives of the Yard Associate
- Sort and rack lumber
- Handle stock, freight, and other materials
- Forklift operation
- Assist customers
Primary Responsibilities of the Yard Associate
- Sorting, stocking, and moving lumber and building materials
- Fill orders
- Loading supplies for customers
- Operate power tools, saws, and chainsaws
- Read special orders from sales people
- Read instructions from supervisors or sales people in handling customer requests and safety procedures in the workplace
- Read carefully the products labels, warnings, and directions posted in the products and warehouse
- Complete inventory sheets
- Read invoices and orders
- Read and follow work schedules
- Enter number entries in loading sheets
- Look in the charts for the weights of forklifts that can carry and lift
- May be responsible for lifting up to 125 lb
- Protect company values by keeping financial information and plans confidential
- Responsible for following and enforcing all safety rules and policies as outlined by and communicated by Bliffert Lumber management
- Act as our store’s representative and provides exceptional customer service
- Reports injuries immediately to Manager
- Additional job responsibilities to be determined by manager/foreman
Requirements of the Yard Associate
- Reports to the location manager/foreman
- Occasional local travel and delivery runs with company vehicle
- Lifting up to 150 lbs.
